Triangle Eye Institute

has been around for several years and has treated family, friends, and co workers. I believe Dr Yaplee and staff are very knowledgeable at what they do.

The Triangle Eye Institute is in a very nice building. The office is very inviting and their equipment seems up to date. I was content with the service my daughter got, though, every time I had a question-it never failed-I was directed to someone else. Besides, I wish the doctor would have been a little more informative.

Further, I wasn't impressed with the Optician. My daughter has VSP through Healthy Families. She went in to get a prescription for contacts and eye glasses for which I had made the phone calls and was already informed that HF pays for one or the other. I was prepared to pay more. However, the reaction and tonality of the Optician as she found out what insurance we had made us feel inadequate. Worse, even though they have a plethora of eye frames on display, the Optician took out a little box from the cabinet with few and I add, very few frames to choose from. In fact, only one frame looked decent (size wise) on my daughter. I mean, talk about discrimination against the poor. She's not happy with her eye glasses so it's a good thing she also got contacts. I went to Sam's Club for those since their prices are much more competitive and I was able to save $100 on four boxes. She's now good for another year.

Just because circumstances change for some doesn't make them dumb. We are educated. In fact, my daughter has a 4.3 GPA in HS. My three children are all Honor Roll students. We are not stupid. This experience tells me that something has got to get done about the prejudice the poor encounters every day and stop favoritism towards the rich. Two weeks later, The Triangle Eye Institute has yet to call back. My daughter is still waiting to get her eye glasses.

I ended up taking my other daughter to Target Optical on Rosedale. I was impressed with Dr. Nguyen. With their sale, I was able to get her a $380 name brand frame for $200. Because they are out of network the insurance will return $125 back to me. They are just adorable on her. Best of all, we were treated with respect and her eye glasses were in within 4 days.
