Everything I told them seemed to go in one ear and out the other. I didn't feel like they cared about what I had to say at all. Dr. Burgess made 15 errors in the diagnosis. He told me he was taking Wellbutrin for himself. He took a six month mental health sabbatical in 2008. His office had files all over his desk and his floor. He gave me the impression he was in flat affect due to over medication. He misdiagnosed me with Bipolar II Disorder. I filed a suit against him and trial was set for August 2008. He is a sick and unhappy man. In my opinion, as a 12 month patient he is incompetent to practice medicine. Because of him I will never get involved with mental health specialists again. The Community Mental Health Center kept me and my daughter so medicated that we developed dynamic issues... which led to my daughter's being taken falsely into state's custody.

When I researched the symptoms of Bipolar II Disorder in the DSM manual IV I realized that I had used the wrong meaning and level of adjectives to describe my discomfort. I asked him to give me a new assessment and he refused to do so. His refusal caused me to be in bad light of all other evaluators. The only diagnosis I received from a diagnostic evaluator that was not paid by Medicaid was Dr. Turner, a Doctor in psychology stated I did not have a major disorder. I did not suffer from depression and I did not have disabling anxiety.

Dr. Burgess ordered a neurological exam and then lied in his Interrogatories, saying he did not order it. I have statements from the investigating social worker and my case manager that he did ask for the neurological. Dr. Burgess lied in my case and he never informed me that I presented him with flat affect due to being medicated for symptoms I did not have.

To the best of my knowledge at the time I was under his care he was the only psychiatrist in the town of Homer, Alaska. He had over 600 patients... which close to 10% of the towns population... including infants and children! Go figure!!

When he was denied to accept Medicaid himself, he secured employment at SPBC.... He received Medicaid under the umbrella of the Center.
