I was referred by a friend to Dr. Stepensky. She told me that he did some work on her foot and he did a great job. I saw her feet and could not see a single imperfection so I decided to meet with him for a consultation and plans for a bunion removal. Upon meeting him, he was pleasant, seemed to know what he was talking about and he made me feel comfortable with having him as my surgeon. He convinced me that he could straighten my toes in addition to the bunion removal. He took the X-ray, explained to me what he would be doing, and how it would be don. I was confident that he would have done a great job. (The funny thing was: a few days before the surgery, I felt nervous and wanted to cancel- I should have listened to that little voice). After my surgery, I thought everything would have been well. With every visit and bandage change, my foot seemed swollen which I expected to be normal. It seemed that the bunion was not removed but was larger, and my toes that he straightened have some nerve damage (cannot move properly (except pinky toe) and feels some numbness). He convinced me that it was normal, with time the swelling would go down and I would feel my toes within a few weeks. He took another x-ray and told me that I did not have a bunion. It’s been three+ months and the swelling at the top of my foot has gone down about 80% but the bump that looks like a bunion to me is still there, my big toe does not bend and my pinky toe makes a cracking sound when it moves. I REGRET GOING TO LEON STEPENSKY FOR SERVICE. I advise that you do more research on a doctor and not go to them because a friend referred you. Also, trust your gut.
