Vani Bhatt, MD, FAAP is a board-certified pediatrician and clinical assistant professor of pediatrics at The University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital and The Roy J. & Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics, and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She earned her medical degree from Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi, India and completed her pediatric residency at Inova Children's Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia.
Dr. Bhatt has received several awards including: AMA Physician Recognition Award with Commendation; AAP CME/CPD Award; “Magic Star” recognition and certificate of appreciation from JHCP at Johns Hopkins Medicine for her quality patient care and management, dedication to her patients, and for making a difference. She was recognized for the year by the United Memorial Medical Center hospital nursing staff for “the thorough work you do,” for being viewed as “a teacher,” and in appreciation of “how you listen to and value people.” Dr. Bhatt was honored with the prestigious "National Gold Medal Award" which was presented to her during the award ceremony of the 15th Annual National Neonatology Forum for her clinical research work with newborns.
In clinic, Dr. Bhatt provides all her patients and their families with comprehensive pediatric clinical care ranging from well-child care and pediatric immunizations, to managing childhood illness, acute care situations, complex medical conditions, and chronic pediatric disorders. She is focused on patient and family engagement, patient safety, care coordination, and on delivering the best overall clinical experience in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
Dr. Bhatt presented her clinical research findings at The Johns Hopkins Primary Care Consortium Biennial Retreat to Advance Primary Care - Inspiring Excellence, Innovation & Joy, Turner Auditorium, Johns Hopkins Medicine, Baltimore, MD, in a poster on “Achieving Rapid & Dramatic Improvements in Clinical Outcomes by Leveraging the Epic EMR in a Pediatric Ambulatory Care Setting.” She was honored to then be invited to present her clinical research findings as a Conference Speaker at the XGM Expert Group Meeting at Epic Systems Corporation’s headquarters campus in Verona, WI, where she delivered a 45-minute podium presentation to the Physicians Advisory Council on “There's Gold in them thar Charts: Rapid & Dramatic Improvements in Clinical Outcomes.”
Dr. Bhatt currently enjoys teaching pediatric/family practice residents and medical students at The University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital and The Roy J. & Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine. She has previously taught pediatric/family practice residents and medical students from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Inova Children’s Hospital, George Washington University Hospital, Georgetown University Hospital, DeWitt Army Hospital, University of Virginia, Monmouth Medical Center, MCP Hahnemann University School of Medicine, Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, Kalawati Saran Children’s Hospital, and Lady Hardinge Medical College.
Dr. Bhatt gives back to the community by serving as an active responder/physician volunteer with the Medical Reserve Corps, and has served in the states of Texas, Maryland and New York.
In her free time, she enjoys being with family & friends, and likes to cook, read books, listen to music, watch movies, travel and attend sporting events …Go Hawkeyes!
