My mother, Vickie Hunt, is a patient of Dr. Sunnenberg's and he has treated her with absolute respect and wonderful care. He listens to all of her concerns and he immediately addresses any and all issues that have arose. Dr. Sunnenberg has an amazing bed side manner. My mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in Oct. 2008. She lived in Texas and because she had no insurance and she was considered indigent they would not help her. I wrote a letter to Dr. Sunnenberg on October 29, 2008, explaining my mother's diagnosis and how Texas was refusing to help her. By the time I wrote Dr. Sunnenberg, my mother had lost over 25lbs. and she was in unbearable pain. She was literally wasting away every single day that pasted without medical care. Dr. Sunnenberg received my letter and although at the time he was not accepting new patients (he cares for many patients), I received a call the day I faxed the letter stating that he would see her on Nov.1, 2008. My mother traveled from Texas, she arrived on 10/31/2008, she met with Dr. Sunnenberg and he immediately ordered testing that day. He called us in his office (after hours) after receiving the results of the tests he ordered that day and advised the cancer had spread to her liver. It was a very sad day and a grim outlook. He was honest about her condition in the most gentle manner. He made sure she had her first chemotherapy treatment the very next day (Nov. 2, 2008). Moreover, it is nice to see how well he treats his staff with so much respect. It is obvious that he has a good relationship with all of his staff members. They are very qualified and knowledgeable. I could tell they've been doing their job well for quite a while and they care about their patients. It is now nearly three years later and my mother has beaten all the statistics. I credit Dr. Sunnenberg's sincere concern, diligent care for my mother care and prompt attention to any changes in her condition coupled with my mother’s will to live, faith and love for life. I have gotten to spend invaluable time with my mother and I am internally grateful to Dr. Sunnenberg. He has the very best qualities and heart.
