In 2008 I went to see Dr Khatib for abdominal pain and I can say that he unsuccessfully did his best to find the cause of it and treat it. My complain is not abut his knowledge. Abut 6 months latter I got a bill from his office for the abovementioned visit. Knowing that my insurance company covers this type of service I went online to check the claim just to see that the insurance had not paid because the claim was not “received within the filing limit”. So basically the office staff in their incompetence did not file the claim until almost the middle of 2009. Now they want me to pick the tab and they have been harassing me with letters and statements for the last year. Despite me sending faxes over faxes to Dr. Khatib’s office accompanied by printouts of the claim detail from the insurance company which clearly stated the reasons for their refusal to pay. Dr. Khatib’s office personnel refuse to acknowledge their mistake and continue to send me bills.
I strongly believe that having me pay for their inability to send the claim in time to the insurance company ethically wrong and illogical.
It makes me wonder how many people out there got their claims refused because of Dr. Khatib’s office personnel’s incompetence and ended up paying out of pocket for covered services.
I would really like for Dr Khatib and his team to men-up, admit their mistake and move on. I understand that times are tough but just as I pay for my mistakes Dr. Khatib’s office staff need to pay for theirs.
