I was not impressed with this doctor. She took me off a water pill that I had been on for many years because of a high calcium count. I gained 10 pounds of water retention in 1 week and then ended up in the hospital because of shortness of breath from the build up of water. I was told in the hospital that I should not have been taken off the pill without being put on another type of water pill.

Does not know anything about Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.
I went to see Dr. Smadja-Gordon for hypothyroid conditions. The first time I saw her, she noted that I'd had only one of the two thyroid antibody tests, but did not test me for the other even though she was told that my sister has an autoimmune disease. The second visit, I had a test to prove that I had Hashimoto's but she didn't take it into consideration. She diagnosed robotically from the TSH result, asked about but didn't listen to my symptoms, and half-heartedly examined me. She looked at me like I was crazy when I mentioned that my TSH may be lower because Hashimoto's destroys your thyroid cells permanently and in the process dumps thyroid hormone into your bloodstream. She looked irritated and told me, "No, Hashimoto's is just a marker for why you are hypothyroid." She obviously doesn't know anything about Hashimoto's or how to treat it. Worse, she doesn't seem to want to know. I am NOT going back to this doctor, and I don't recommend her for any other hypothyroid woman.
