If there were a choice for zero stars he would get it. This man single handedly ruined my relationship with my kids. We didn’t pick him, he was court appointed but needs to be off of their list of experts because he is by no means.. an expert. If I didn’t know better, he was paid off. He mandated a 3 month “hiatus” from my kids because my ex-wife was angry? He mandated an apology letter and made me correct a small grammatical error which put me past hai “deadline” which he then submitted my uncooperative behavior in his review. Instead of dealing with the problems at hand, he focused on grammar, my “punishment” for being in a new relationship 2 1/2 years after my divorce was final and my ex wife’s solution to not see my kids for 3 months because my ex was upset about that relationship. Mandated psychological exams were ordered, he allowed mine to be shared in the courtroom but fought to keep hers protected?
The unfair and unkind decisions of this man destroyed my relationships with my kids and almost my new wife. He is unqualified, unfair, unkind and should NOT be practicing.

To start, Joseph Bono has never practiced medicine at this address. In fact, no one there has ever heard of him. His office was located at 8137 Grand River, in Brighton. I have found yet another address listed for him at 600 Grand River. The 8137 address was on his listings prior to being investigated again.

This "doctor" performed psych evaluations on my family for child protective services.  His bias was clear from the beginning of mine, when he greeted me with, "Welcome.  You can have a seat right there.  I met with your ex-husband yesterday."  He became accusatory and argumentative, even leaving the office to bring a report to prove his accusation, which in fact, did not prove his accusation.  He asked me to specifically describe the intimate details of traumatic experience, which was not only traumatic, but completely irrelevant to the exam.  Not enough time was allowed for the exam, so a complete history was not allowed for.  There was no EVIDENCE allowed to be presented to verify information.  An eval was done on a child with the "alleged" abuser in the room for the entire exam.  Eval report was written with bias, prejudice, factual errors, significant omissions, and contradicting the eval scores based on personal opinion.  Also, Dr. Bono's license has been suspended in the past.

Upon trying to reach this "doctor" to obtain records and serve a subpoena, the phone rang to no end and no answering machine/service.  When I reached the office, it was closed up and empty.  A Google search produced a new address with the same phone number.  When I reached the new address, several miles down the road, no one in the building had ever heard of Dr. Bono.  I checked the verify license website and found that he was being investigated by the State again and had allowed his license to expire.  Another search for Dr. Bono today turned up verified information that he is being investigated, again, for sexual misconduct/abuse, that he surrendered his license to practice, and that he was fined for his crimes.Knowing that Dr. Bono was routinely used by Michigan's Child Protective Services for evaluations and/or counseling, I truly hope that none of the all ready vulnerable children became his victims.
