About

Shawna Schwalb

A little after a year of having my daughter, I taught yoga, but was not inside the same body. Everything throbbed and began spreading into my arms, shooting pain down to my fingers and sciatica down my legs into my toes. I thought it was due to my nutritional deficiencies possibly from nursing, stopping nursing, etc. Still, I followed the protocol of going from doctor to doctor to find an answer. Why did I have arthritis at age 31? Why did my knees crack while walking up the stairs and why was it difficult for me to stand for very long. I went to physical therapy, even tried trigger point therapy with needles, pretty deep stuff. I was/am hyperflexible. I learned I had loose ligaments and did not possess the strength to tolerate this without pain. I learned that I was also hypersensitive to everything, most probably from low serotonin and low dopamine. Big bags of supplements became my drugs of choice. Integrating an inflammatory diet into every meal, as often as I could, was the answer. I have very little pain or throbbing anymore, am able to teach yoga again and now desire to lead others to better health and happiness through nutrition counseling or health coaching.
