THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE ORTHO PROGRAM (under Dr. Bergen) ONLY, NOT THE GENTLE DENTISTRY PRACTICE WITH WHICH WE HAVE NO COMPLAINT.

My daughter, age 10, had only had braces since February (2015) with two follow up appointments. BOTH follow up appointments had to be corrected by the orthodontist, Dr. Bergen, because the technician is incompetent -- and unprofessional. The first blunder: The technician told my daughter, "Expect the wires to pop off a lot. It happens a lot". WHAT?!? Well, after her work, I would expect that to be a true statement, as the entire job had to be redone by the orthodontist a few days later because my daughter couldn't even close her mouth to chew (the metal prongs were set on her teeth incorrectly). When the orthodontist finished the work, my daughter couldn't even tell she was wearing braces.

This second appointment was on Monday (5/18/2015). The same technician, whom my daughter describes as "the tattoo lady with bad teeth", set to cleaning my daughter's teeth. My daughter kept saying "ow" because the incompetent boob kept scratching her gums. She then told my ten-year-old, "Oh my God, I've never seen build-up occur this fast on a kid". WHAT?!? Are you completely insane? My daughter cares for her teeth, almost to the point of obsessive. If that weren't bad enough, she, again, failed to bend the wires properly in the back of her mouth, so now my daughter is in so much pain from being jabbed that my husband needs to take off work, again, in order to have the matter corrected. That's actually taking place today (5/20). Why didn't my daughter catch the wiring mistake before leaving the office? Her entire mouth was swollen and in pain from the cleaning and braces tightening process that she didn't notice it until the overall pain went away.

Gentle Dentle, as a whole, is a good company. My daughters were going there for years prior to my youngest getting braces. They really enjoyed going and never had a single complaint. The complaint is against the orthodontic branch. Fire that technician and Dr. Bergen needs to take a more active role in his practice. Not wait to step up until after blundering mistakes have occurred.
