With a bad toothache, I called around for a nearby dentist who could do something about it right away or ASAP. My first random choice was booked solid. My second call happened to be to Gentle Dental in Gresham, where I live. They could see me the next morning, and as it happened, a dentist was free to go ahead and to the work right then. Two teeth which had been in very bad shape a long time got root canaled and crowned (temporary until next appt.)

Now I can enjoy my weekend, doing my scientific writing/illustrating work with full concentration, and zero ache.

My previous dentist over in the big city takes an hour to get to, through heavy traffic, and wouldn't have had an open schedule. I was working downtown, so that dentist was easy to get to. Now I'm no longer working there, so it makes little sense to struggle with traffic to go there. Also, while excellent at dentristy, they'd been holding off on any actual effective treatment until after a cleaning, and dealing with other issues, which was taking a long time due to full schedules.
