My fiance and I have been going here for about a year, and we are now planning on switching practices. They took a screening x-ray of his mouth and told him he needed three root canals($850 each) and crowns ($850 each). Since we were obviously going to pass the maximum that the insurance would cover, we decided to go to the dental school root canal clinic to get the root canals done and the dental school general dentistry practice to get the crowns done. We called the dental school in advance and the estimates were about $200-300 cheaper depending on the tooth. However, the higher prices is not why we felt like Comfort Dental Center was not for us. It is to be expected that you will pay more to get work done at a private clinic rather than by a student of the dental school.

BUT, when my fiance went in to the root canal clinic, the doctor looked at his x-ray that had been sent over from Comfort Dental and looked a little confused. He tested the pain sensitivity of the teeth in question, and checked the gums. Then he told my fiance that the x-rays that had been taken at Comfort Dental were not diagnostic! They were only for scanning. In order for a doctor to know FOR SURE that you need a root canal, you need to take a second set of x-rays of each tooth in question, so that you can see the whole root structure. After taking these x-rays, the dentist at the root canal clinic told my fiance that HE DID NOT NEED ANY ROOT CANALS!

The dentists at Comfort Dental not only did not do the proper tests to determine FOR SURE if my fiance actually needed a root canal, but they also listed all three teeth as "molars," when two of them are in fact "pre-molars." This means they were going to charge another $200 for these teeth, even though they couldn't. I would not recommend anyone to go to Comfort Dental unless you want to have unnecessary procedures done.
