Dr. Fanning is by far the worst dentist that I have ever had the displeasure of having work on my teeth. He and his staff are all very nice, and for the common patient that knows nothing about dentistry, he seems very knowledgeable. Not only was I his patient, but I recommended him to several friends and family members as well. Now we are all suffering from his quack dentistry. I will tell my own story, because it is the only account that would not be hearsay. I needed two root canals/ crowns after my first pregnancy (having children takes its toll on everything). Something went wrong with the measuring or the creating of the second crown, because when it finally arrived from the company that he uses to build them, the crown didn't fit right. There was a considerable gap between my gum and he crown, and it was too tall. I couldn't even close my jaw. Rather than correct the mistake, he proceeded to grind the crown down almost to the gold. When it was still too tall, he did something that blew my mind. He actually, took the drill and started to grind down my good tooth that was opposite the crown in order to make room. When I protested, he claimed that this was fine, and normal procedure. Now, there is considerable infection built up underneath this crown. I will likely have to have this tooth pulled. Not to mention that I had to pay an $800 copay for this negligent service. Needless to say, I ceased being his patient after this experience. On a side note, while I was still his patient, I had two other cavities filled, and both of those fillings fell out. However, the root canal/ crown is the worst part. I value my teeth, and I deeply regret that I will likely soon have a hole where I should have a very expensive crown. As I said above, this is just my story. Both of my brothers have a crown and had similar issues. One of my brother's just lost his crown tooth today. I have several other friends and family members that have had similar bad experiences with his dental work. I would highly recommend that no one trust him with their teeth.
