My son needed a single tooth removed. Dr. Pedram Marhabi refused to remove the tooth while I observed. I tried to explain to him that we had a bad prior experience with an oral surgeon making a mistake, but he still refused to do any work with me watching. There were no medical reasons that would prohibit me from observing. In fact, three different dentists in this same facility have always allowed me to supervise my minor child during all procedures, including ones far more difficult than this simple extraction. I asked for assistance by the office manager, but was told that it was the doctor's option to insist upon being alone with a patient. I was further told that Dr. Marhabi was the only dentist who could do this extraction. I can't possibly be the only parent who finds it highly inappropriate for a doctor to insist upon being left alone with a young boy. Needless to say, we left without having the work done. My son's safety and well-being is far more important that getting his tooth pulled.
