I started seeing Kristine (now last name Sinner, practicing in Scottsdale) when I had learned about Intuitive Eating and was hoping to learn how to trust my body and mind, and to get rid of the shame and food fears that came from my years of being shamed and put on diets. Instead, she was insistent on asking probing questions about my personal life and expressing pity. It seemed like she was really pushing for me to hire a therapist, which I did, but she expressed anger when I didn't choose one in the clinic where she works and then never followed through on calling my therapist like she said she would. I would come in prepared with questions like "why am I so hungry after working out?" and "do I need to do anything differently about my morning high blood sugars?" but would feel so small when she'd express negativity about me that I'd anxiously wait for the session to end. If I came in calm, she would say I seemed stressed; if I came in bubbly, she'd say I seemed anxious. If I wore a lot of purple, she would even comment on that. It left me nervous to even arrive for my appointments--it got to the point where I'd dress nicely and do my makeup just to try and skip that part. She also talked about a lot of personal things, like her own health concerns, in a "suck it up, others have it worse" sort of way. I think the most awkward part was when she made a joke about a political demographic she's not part of during a session...or maybe it was the way she rolled her eyes when I (a highly intelligent, research literate person) shared information that she clearly didn't believe. I would have to spend a while after each appointment calming myself to get back to my workday. The only thing I learned from her were that toasting your sprouted grain bread improved the taste. Not worth the thousand dollars I spent on her services over a span of 2 months.
