The reception here in NOT friendly or warm (never has been) -- no greeting on arrival, no eye contact, no feeling of being wanted or welcomed (by receptionist or doctor). However, Dr Maia is an excellent chiropractor -- one of the best I've ever been to. (And I've been to many!) I trust his professional expertise a great deal, and he has definitely helped my back and pelvic condition significantly. Even after 3 previous chiropractors messed up my back, Dr Maia knew just what to do to correct the problem. The whole clinic, including waiting room, is tastefully decorated and very pleasant, clean, and comfortable. The wait time is usually not long; however, the last couple months or so, the wait has become much longer (sometimes half and hour) -- not because of overbooking or a long line of patients, but because the doctor does not appear to be in any hurry to get to me. Although the doctor is not the best at friendly receptions, he is pleasant and attentive during treatment and listens to me. Because I'm fully confidant and happy with the chiropractic treatments I receive from him, I would not hesitate to recommend him to others. Because I have Medicare for insurance -- which I know doesn't pay doctors enough and can be very difficult for them to deal with -- I have felt that Dr Maia and his staff have grown weary of dealing with my Medicare and it seems that this has compromised their attention to my care. It's been very disappointing to me that the doctor does not seem interested in continuing my care (eg, taking the trouble to provide Medicare with the documentation, etc, they require). presumably because he doesn't think the extra time and trouble is worth it to him for how little Medicare pays. Although it's understandable, it's nonetheless been sad on my part. Despite the disappointments re: friendliness and willingness to deal with the challenges of my insurance, it's still worth it to have such excellent medical care by a doctor who really knows his stuff.
