First Kiss: What Does It Mean?

When was the last time you were kissed for the first time by someone new? I don't mean a casual peck on the cheek. I mean a hot, passionate, bone-melting, knee-weakening, no-holds-barred kiss. Now ask yourself this: what happened after that? Did you hook up (as in casual sex), start a long-term relationship, or go your separate ways? The answer may have something to do with your gender.

A new study tells us that the first big kiss means something different to guys than it does to women. For most men, a hot kiss with a new woman may be nothing more than a prelude to sex. For most women, a hot kiss with a new guy is a test of relationship compatibility. Regardless of your gender, a hot kiss may lead to sex. Or not.

Researchers found that if a couple who intially were attracted to each other kissed, something like 60% of them moved on post first kiss. That would be a kiss that failed to live up to one or both people's expectations.

Is "good kisser" or even "great kisser" enough evidence of compatibility to start a serious relationship? Clearly not. Have you tried to start a relationship based on great kissing? Tell us your story below if so.

Hmm. I’ve never started a relationship based on good kissing alone, but I definitely needed that spark to move things along, and stay! Got to have chemistry! Oh, yeah, got to, got to, got to… And those that I had that amazing kiss/chemistry with have turned out to be the deepest and most meaningful relationships that I’ve had. I get happy just remembering them! =)
