Four Tips to Losing Weight..and How it Worked for Carlos

As the founder of a national weight loss program, I am always deeply touched when I meet people who have overcome a disease that is quickly becoming the single greatest killer in Americans—obesity. Many people try to overcome it, yet fail every single time they try.

Carlos Castro, however, is one man who refused to let food take him down. Weighing nearly 500 pounds, his love for food was slowly killing him with each bite he took.

Serving as his weight loss fitness trainer, I began helping Carlos transform his body. However, we had to dig deeper into his lifestyle. Yes, he loved food obviously, but what else contributed to the addiction?

“Obesity is not just a physical problem, it is a cultural and psychological problem,” said Dr. Ammar Jarrous, a surgeon for the Armageddon Weight Loss Program.

For Carlos, an IT professional, his career not only made it difficult to eat healthy foods but he was surrounded by people who often made bad food choices as well.

With obesity claiming more lives than ever before, I was determined to not only save Carlos’ life but others in the same boat. For anyone seriously trying to lose weight and keep it off for good, there are several things they must first understand:

1. Don’t buy into “gimmicks”

You’ve probably seen ads that promise to help you drop ten pounds in ten days or lose weight eating whatever you want with a so-called-magic pill. Don’t fall for it. Buying into such claims will set you up for failure when you quickly realize you’re not able to lose the weight as advertised.

2. Don’t fall for a “one-size-fits” all diet plan

A weight loss plan that works for one person may not work for another. If you choose to start a diet plan that is not specifically catered to your body, you may very well lose weight in the beginning. However, the odds are great that you will regain it and probably more in the long run.

3. Make sure you have the right support group in place

It’s been proven time and time again that when you are held accountable for your weight and your actions that contribute to your weight gain, you are more likely to drop the pounds.  In order to be successful at weight loss, turn to utilizing a team approach that includes medical doctors and fitness experts for guidance. They will hold you responsible for your lifestyle decisions —a bottle of diet pills or pre-packaged diet foods won’t

4. Choose a program backed by real science

So many diet programs are based on limited research. That’s why choosing a complete weight loss system is crucial. Carlos lived by these tips and when he finally stepped on the scale to show the world the new man he has become he weighed an incredible 207.6 pounds and totally ripped!  Today, he’s training for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
