Porcelain Veneers Remove
Porcelain Veneers
Have you been hiding your smile because your teeth are discolored or you have a small gap or chipped tooth? The good news is that you don’t have to be a celebrity to have a glamorous smile. Porcelain veneers can not only transform your smile, they can transform the way you feel about yourself.
Porcelain veneers are made of very thin shells of porcelain that are about the thickness of a fingernail. As a restorative material, porcelain can be artistically crafted to mimic the natural look, shape, translucency, and function of your tooth. Veneers hold up very well over time. In fact, they are actually harder than your tooth enamel and more stain resistant.

Lumineers Remove
Lumineers
Lumineers are an ultra-thin brand of porcelain veneers made by Den-Mat, a dental company located in California. They are made to be very strong and thinner than other types of porcelain veneers. They are approximately 0.2 millimeters thinner than an average porcelain veneer. This means that it is less likely that you will require tooth preparation, which is quite appealing to many people that are interested in a smile makeover.
The process is pain-free and convenient. All that is required is having an impression of your teeth taken. Then you simply wait a couple of weeks for them to return from the laboratory and we will bond them into place.
It is important that you seek the talents of a true cosmetic dentist for any kind of cosmetic work. The dentist must be passionate about creating beautiful smiles because it takes a high degree of artistic ability to do cosmetic dentistry well.

Porcelain Crowns Remove
Porcelain Crowns
When you have a tooth that has been damaged on the surface or has suffered decay, a porcelain crown can be used. It also works well to restore and protect a tooth that is broken, has an old filling, or on a tooth that has an increased potential for fracture.
This type of crown is an excellent solution for a front tooth that is visible. It is made of a tooth-colored porcelain and simply slips over your natural tooth.
In the past, a metal foundation was required whenever porcelain was used on a crown so that it would be strong enough for regular use. With the recent advances in bonding technology, a dental crown can be made out of all porcelain.

Dental Implants Remove
Dental Implants
If you are looking for a permanent solution to replace missing teeth, you may be a candidate for dental implants. With implants, no one will ever know you are missing teeth because they will look, function, and feel just like your natural teeth.
A dental implant is made up of two parts, as shown to the right.
The root form is made out of titanium and ultimately serves as an artificial tooth root. It is surgically placed into your jawbone and the bone grows around it forming a bond, in a process called osseointegration.
After a short time period of healing, a porcelain crown is fitted on top of the root form. This prosthetic part of the tooth is visible above the gum line. We will have an oral surgeon place the root form and Dr. Collins will take care of the prosthetic. He will create your dental implant to look completely natural and blend beautifully with your existing teeth.

We enjoy seeing denture patients and we want you to be proud to show off your healthy new smile. You owe it to yourself to feel good about the way your smile looks. Dentures can give you a renewed sense of confidence and will make you look and feel younger. Mini Implants Remove
Mini Implants
If you cannot afford expensive dental implants, then mini implants may be an option for you. Mini dental implants are small diameter (1.8 millimeter), bio-compatible titanium alloy implant screws that have been used for a number of years now. Their diameter is about one-third that of standard dental fixtures.
So what does this mean for you? Due to the much smaller diameter of mini implants, the surgery is much simpler and the healing time is faster. This also means they are much more affordable, about half the cost of standard dental implants.
Mini dental implants have been used to effectively stabilize denture plates in position. While they are not as sturdy as conventional full-sized dental implants, they have been shown to be reliable and long-lasting. They improve the ability of denture wearers to eat, smile, and speak with comfort and confidence.

Overdentures Remove
Overdentures
If you are missing teeth and need a denture or if you are all too familiar with the discomfort and inconvenience of loose-fitting dentures, an implant overdenture may be right for you.
Dr. Collins has helped a number of patients who come in with loose-fitting dentures. Two or more dental implants are used to anchor the denture in place. The more implants that are used, the more stability can be achieved.
Mini implants are more affordable than standard dental implants and can also be used to stabilize your denture. The standard insertion protocol we use for mini dental implants calls for four implants to be gently screwed into the front of a patient’s lower jaw.
This is a relatively painless procedure that can be performed by Dr. Collins and requires only a mild anesthesia. The mini dental implants, which are approximately the size of wooden toothpicks, are placed about five millimeters apart in the patient’s mandible. The overdenture is then carefully adjusted to allow it to snap onto the four mini implants.

Partial Dentures Remove
Partial Dentures
If you are looking for an affordable solution to replace several missing teeth, partial dentures may be right for you.
A partial denture is removable and is made to resemble your natural teeth and gums using pink acrylic. It can vary in complexity and durability. The most durable framework is made out of metal. The appliance is made to fit the unique contours of your teeth and jawbone. It will clasp securely in place to your teeth. Dental implants are the best solution to replace missing teeth. They are permanent and are the most natural-looking solution. They function just like your normal teeth and prevent facial collapse.

Emergency Dentistry Remove
Emergency Dentistry
Toothaches are one of the most common dental emergency calls we receive. Typically, a toothache is the sign of an infection in the tooth which is caused by tooth decay that has penetrated the pulp of the tooth.
If this is the case, you will need a root canal treatment. Many patients have heard horror stories about root canals. But with the techniques available to us today, it can be pain-free. We will temporarily relieve your pain during your initial visit and then schedule a time for you to return for the root canal treatment.
There are a number of other reasons that you may need a trip to the emergency dentist. Periodontal issues may result in a gum infection or abscess that can cause tooth pain. A chipped, broken, or cracked tooth are also reasons that you may need immediate care.

Sedation Dentistry Remove
Sedation Dentistry
Millions of people are scared to go to the dentist. If you are one of those that have had a traumatic dental experience, can you really imagine not being afraid?
You can have a positive dental experience. With anxiolysis, commonly known as sedation dentistry, you will be so relaxed that you may not even remember your appointment. One of our current patient’s comments, “I would recommend Dr. Collins to anyone that is afraid of the dentist. I had a root canal and I didn’t feel a thing. What a great experience!”

Cater to Cowards Remove
Cater to Cowards
Did you know that going to the dentist is one of the most common fears that people have? Some people may experience sweaty palms or an accelerated heartbeat during an appointment. While others dread going to the dentist and even lose sleep over it.
If this sounds like you, we want you to know that we understand what you are going through. We make every effort to cater to cowards by making your dental experience as comfortable and most importantly pain-free as possible.

Pediatric Dentistry Remove
Pediatric Dentistry
If you are looking for a Baton Rouge pediatric dentist, Dr. Collins loves seeing children. As a proud father of four young kids, he knows how important it is to pave the way for good dental health at a young age. Our families enjoy the convenience and trust that comes from everyone being treated by the same dentist.
Too many parents have had bad dental experiences when they were younger. But we are out to change that mindset for our families. We encourage you to schedule routine dental visits for your child by three years of age. This is because we want your child to have a positive first experience instead of waiting until your child has a dental emergency where they will associate going to the dentist with pain.
Many of our staff have children of their own and work together to make going to the dentist fun. From the time you are warmly welcomed at the front desk, to the time your child picks a new toothbrush to take home, we will make every effort to make your child comfortable. And you are more than welcome to accompany your child during their dental exam.

Mercury-Free Dentistry Remove
Mercury-Free Dentistry
Did you know that traditional silver fillings, called amalgam fillings, are made up of approximately 50 percent mercury? This concerns many people because they feel that having mercury in their mouth may pose serious health concerns.
Dr. Collins is a mercury-free dentist that hasn’t used amalgam in many years. Instead, we offer white composite fillings. Technology has evolved since the standard use of amalgam. This newer composite material can be bonded directly to the tooth and is strong enough to hold up on back teeth.

Root Canals Remove
Root Canals
If you have had a root canal done, then it was hopefully a more positive experience than you originally thought it was going to be. A root canal doesn't have to be painful. You will likely experience about the same level of discomfort as when a cavity is treated.

Hidden Decay Detection Remove
Hidden Decay Detection
Locating hidden decay before it destroys tooth structure (from the inside out) is a major goal for our doctors. The widespread use of fluoride supplements in dental materials, toothpastes, and drinking water has made tooth surfaces harder and more resistant to decay. However, diagnosing cavities beneath the hard surfaces is more challenging because the disease process can start through microscopic defects in the hard surface enamel and can readily spread into the softer tooth structure beneath the surface.
X-rays and probing with an explorer are limited in detecting subsurface decay, particularly when the cavity is in its early stages. Fortunately, the new DIAGNOdent technology is a major breakthrough that allows our doctors to monitor the area below the hard surface. The DIAGNOdent allows doctors to locate hidden decay and with treatment stop the spread of decay before it destroys the tooth from within.

Night Guards Remove
Night Guards
Does your jaw feel stiff or do you have difficulty opening your mouth wide? Do your jaw muscles feel tired in the morning? If so, you may grind your teeth at night, a medical condition called Bruxism. Or you may just be clenching your teeth, which can be just as harmful. People with nighttime grinding habits may wear away their tooth enamel “ten-times faster” than those without “abusive chewing habits.” Eventually, your teeth may be worn down and destroyed.
In addition to relieving head, neck, jaw, and shoulder pain, treating Bruxism and clenching is cost-effective compared to ignoring the condition and exposing teeth to continued grinding. Without treatment, crowns, bridges, implants, and dentures are often needed to repair or replace worn and damaged teeth.

Facial Collapse Remove
Facial Collapse
When you no longer have any teeth left in the jawbone, the body senses that the bone is no longer needed. The bone is slowly resorbed so the body can use these minerals elsewhere in the body. This condition is called facial collapse.
Many people have never heard of it. That is probably due to the fact that it takes place very slowly, over the course of 10 to 20 years. But the truth is that facial collapse is inevitable if you have complete dentures.
The good news is that facial collapse can be prevented. Dental implants prevent the bone resportion process in the area surrounding each dental implant. They will also stabilize your denture and keep it from coming out at embarrassing times. For those that think they can’t afford dental implants, even just the placement of a couple implants helps significantly. Or mini implants are a more affordable option that can be used to prevent this serious condition.

Snoring Remove
Snoring
Are you or your loved one losing precious sleep due to snoring? If so, there may be a simple solution to prevent snoring once and for all.
To stop snoring, we use the Silent Nite snoring prevention device. This appliance works to gently position the lower jaw into a forward position by means of special connectors that are attached to transparent flexible upper and lower forms. These forms are custom laminated with heat and pressure to a model of your mouth. The fit is excellent and it is very comfortable due to their extremely small size, only two millimeters thick. The airway stays open with your lower jaw moved slightly forward. This appliance stops the soft tissue vibrations which cause snoring, even if you are congested.
