My mother stayed here for 1.5 weeks and over the course of her stay me and my sister were appalled at the lack of care and outright neglect we witnessed.

My mom has dementia and needs total care but the nurses almost never came into check on her throughout the day. They failed to turn my mom in the bed enough and she developed a bad pressure sore on her backside as a result. She never developed a pressure sore in 5.5 years while at home living with dementia but it took Regency 1.5 weeks to screw that up.

Further, whenever me or my sister (who were forced to be there 24/7 due to the lack of care) would press the call button for assistance, oftentimes the nurses wouldn't come in for 30-45 minutes after the fact. One time I got so fed up with the waiting time that I went directly to the nursing manager and asked him to send someone to help clean her up (they oftentimes didn't get her cleaned for the day until well after noon) he dismissively told me to use the call button. Pretty good microcosm of the attentiveness and care this place demonstrates in that one exchange.

She also developed a UTI at Regency because they delayed taking her catheter out for days even after me and my sister told them the hospital staff had released her with the instructions that the catheter be removed after 2 days maximum. It took them 5-6 days to remove it.

Lastly, there was one specific order on my mom's discharge forms from the hospital: wash scalp daily with mild soap and water. When I asked the nurse to do this she looked perplexed and said "we don't do that." By this point I was so fed up I just told her to forget it and I'd take care of it. She seemed relieved and immediately agreed.

In summation, if you have a relative you care about who needs a lot of assistance/care, do NOT send them here. If me or my sister weren't there at all times to keep an eye on my mom and plead for the little help we did get, I honestly don't know if she would've survived. The nursing staff are an outright disgrace and I genuinely hope the state authorities get involved before someone dies due to their lack of care.

PS. The only people at the entire place who seemed to have any idea what they were doing were the physical therapy staff, so I don't want them lumped into this review.

The staff at Regency Heritage were remarkable. From housekeeping, recreation, pt and nursing and on down. Certain people made my stay extra special. The only department that needs improvement is the dietary dept. The food was horrible. But other than that, I was spoiled at Regency. I don't want to go home.
