I was very happy with Dr. Turkal for a number of years. It wasn't until recently that I started to question his expertise. Six years ago my dog had an anal fissure creating a wound in her back side. I was told by Dr. Turkal that the only way to treat it was to let it heal naturally over time. For six years I went to his office every three-four months concerned that the wound was not only not healing but getting bigger. Finally, two weeks ago I decided to take her for a second opinion (I did once before but to a woman Turkal recommended). The vet teared when he saw the condition of my poor pooch. He performed surgery on her and stitched the wound. She's still healing but her backside is finally getting better. Turns out their were treatments available all along. I feel like a fool. For six years I let my dog suffer thinking Dr. Turkal knew what he was talking about. He could have helped me end her suffering long ago by just telling me about the surgical option. I asked about other treatments but was always told their was none. In retrospect I should have done more. i should have done the research on my own. I cannot change what I did not do but I will never bring my dog to him again and I highly recommend you don't either.

Look up Paul Michael Turkal

Look up paul michael turkal dvm by his license with the state of michigan . You can run but you can't hide.

My suggestion to you would be to run as fast as you can to a board certified vet, who has no blemishes on his record he changed his name and location because of pure incompetence & disregard for the animals & his clientele
He does not do yearly checks for heartworm if you have his insurance what are you paying for shots only, i strongly recommend you are not fooled by this vet getting on the floor with your pets did you ever stop to think maybe he couldnt afford tables ?
Hopefully he put a revolving in the front because the people who work for him don't last long at all, ask to see licenses for cvt's or lvt's. I guarantee you wont find any. The people that work for him & with him are not certified vet techs check for yourself its your pets life at stake ! Check all the websites!
