I had the worst experience at this Surgeon's.

It costed me over $1400 to get my wisdom teeth removed. I ended up getting dry sockets, and had to go back atleast 4 times after. When I would call after hours, Dr. Bassett was very rude, and seemed to care nothing about my pain. A year later I was sent to collections over one missed payment. I never received the invoice, so I did not mail the payment, and I was not given a warning. The office women was very rude, and seemed to care nothing about it.

After accessing this web site I read the first review for Dr. Bassett with a high degree of incredulity. Both my kids have used the professional services of Dr. Bassett and the experience was totally opposite of what I read. The entire staff was professional and showed a sense of humor. The facilities were first rate and both the consults and the procedures were professionally completed. I did not notice any abnormality in the handling of instruments or in the care taken during the procedures. The post op area was very adequate and we were also told about the bleeding after surgery. It went as expected. Anecdotally, one of my kids has a severe phobia to needles. He was made comfortable on the first visit which relieved his anxiety for the second visit. My family has lived in the same community as Dr. Bassett and for more than 15 years I have heard nothing but favorable comments about his practice. I also know that he is highly regarded at Parkland Hospital for his skills. I suppose everyone can have a bad day but I view the first commentor with a skeptical eye.

John Basset and his staff are the worst mannered people I have ever come into contact with in my entire life. I would love to know why they decided to enter the health care field seeing how they have absolutley no people skills.

Upon meeting the staff for the first time I was treated with haste and actual borderline physical abuse. The nurse (if we can even refer to her as this) was so agressive. Shoving my head around even dropping tools on the ground and picking them up with out sanitizing them at all. I felt like a second class citizen as she examined my mouth-shoving tools into my head as if I were a practice dummy rather than a breathing person.

I was so anxious to have extractions done here, but my insurance and the emergency need to get the procedure done would permit me no other facility, so against my gut intuition I proceded. I said to myself the dentist must be better then the nurse, who surely must have just been having a bad day. I was wrong. John Basset is something like the devil incarnate himself. With creepy eyes, ungloved, unwashed hands, and a bedside manner that would not be suitable for your household pet. No introductions- just a wham bam-take your bloody money mam rip of my sleeve and jab at my vein. When waking up I found myself in the recovery room which had the ghosts of the prior patients in bloody form on the wall. I swear the whole experience was right out of a Steven King novel.

I was informed that the bleeding would hault within 3-4 hours after the sugery was finished. After a full 24 hours, the bleeding still persisted to more then the pink color they informed me would be on the gauze. I called the office in a slightly worried state. Instead of offering help-the nurse asked me no questions and told me to hurry up and get into the office before the "doctor" left at 12. So I made my way to the office and was greeted by the mocking staff who were all standing around smirking. The nurse was so rude to me saying that i was fine with a sarcastic tone. She told me that if there was a problem the blood would be pooling around my lips and that the saliva would not be clear for a few days. I relpied that I was just worried, because I thought the blood should have stopped and she said "of course not. You just had SURGERY." Well maybe she could have asked me a few questions over the phone and we could have avoided me coming in. Isn't that what nurses get paid to do? So she said she I was fine, but she would send the "Doctor" in just so I would feel better. She joined the posse of employees standing outside the door to add to the snickering. He came in in an annoyed state, did not say hello, slammed the chair back-which feels great when your entire head is pounding- then stuck his dirty hands in my mouth. Can you believe it? No gloves?! No washing of the hands? He slammed a popsicle stick into my cheek-almost as if to punish me a little because he wanted to leave-and i cried out in pain. He said, "...yea of course it hurts!"-while rolling his eyes. He checked the other side pushing even a little harder. I was so scared that I just sat there in fear.

He left the office without saying goodbye. Must have had somewhere better to go. I sat in the chair a moment contemplating a quick jump out the window so to avoid the pack of wolves waiting outside the door. As I left with my head bowed in embarassment I got devilish grins and laughs at my back. I left the place running and cancelled my follow-up appointment.

Please to the public-I urge you to never have any work done at John Basset's office and if you have had an experience such as mine do not be afraid to report this man and his staff. This type of behavior is completley unacceptable and tramatizing.
