From a female perspective, Dr. Whittington is very arrogant and misogynistic. I am pursuing birth in a birthing center with a midwife as long as there are no problems in my pregnancy, but I want an OB for prenatal monitoring, support, and as a dependable backup if complications arise and I need surgery. He was not receptive to this idea an immediately began trying to steamroll and scare me, doubling-back on himself and contradicting his previous statements. He even went so far as to "diagnose" me as a Type A personality with "control issues" for wanting to have a non-medical birth. As a 28-year-old woman who is trained in managing obstetric emergencies and who trained midwives in Honduras, I found this insulting and I will never have another conversation with him, much less pay him to manhandle me and tell me what to do.
