Psychologist Summary: A Psychologist focuses on the evaluation, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health issues. Psychologists are concerned with the different aspects of behavior and mental processes. A clinical psychologist uses psychotherapy and other counseling skills to improve emotional and mental health.

Psychology involves understanding the mind, specifically through the study and evaluation of emotions, thoughts, feelings, and resulting behaviors. Psychologists observe, assess, and experiment developing opinion as to what beliefs might be influencing an individual’s behavior.

Clinical Psychologists assess, diagnose, and treat mental, emotional, and behavioral issues using a number of counseling sessions, interviews, tests, and are able to provide individual and family therapy. Clinical psychology can address brief or acute personal issues to severe, chronic mental, emotional or physiological conditions.
