When asked what drew him to rural medicine, he cites his experience doing outreach in Lebanon MO, a small rural community outside of Springfield, much like Western Garfield County. “It meant so much to the people in Lebanon that specialists and surgeons were available close to home, in their communities. Not having to travel over an hour meant more to them than I could have imagined. Rural medicine holds a special place in my heart. I love serving” says Dr Allphin.
