Matthew T. Joy, MD

Dr Joy, originally from Los Altos, CA, is an assistant professor of plastic and reconstructive surgery at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. He graduated from USC in 2004 with a degree in Studio Jazz Guitar Performance. After pursuing music professionally, he returned to USC for premedical training in 2009. Dr Joy graduated from Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in 2014 and completed his residency there in 2020. He furthered his expertise with a reconstructive microsurgery fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. His interests include complex reconstruction of head, neck, breast, and extremities, as well as limb salvage and lymphedema surgery.
