About

Paul Berard, D.C.

I am a native of the northeast kingdom in VT, and established a practice here in 1991. I began in the Barton Medical clinic, and have had offices in Orleans, Derby, Newport, St. Johnsbury, and Fairfax, VT. Since 2001, I have been living at the Barton home that I now live and have worked from since 2013.

I have a B.S. in Human Biology, another in Osteopathy, and a Doctorate in Chiropractic. I am a Certified Personal Trainer, and a Certified Kinesio Tape Practitioner. I have been practicing massage Therapy since 1986, Zen Meditation since 1981, and studying herbology and nutrition since 1980. I have gone to 2 chiropractic colleges and a European osteopathic college. I began studies at UVM in medicine, yet decided it was not what I loved or how I wished to treat patients. I have also studied medical billing and coding, health information technology, and psychology. This education has given me a wide array of perspectives and knowledge, which continues to grow.

Services I like to start with the lightest touch techniques, and move through the spectrum as required. While the stronger ones are more efficient and can create a faster overall recovery and rehab., I understand they may not be right for everyone. I want the personal taste and comfort/tolerance of the patient to be an integral part of their treatment plan. I combine value- and evidence-based best practice guidelines, with respectful, individualized, caring, and sometimes intuitive variations. I do not push pills or other add-on costs to the consumer. Nor do I use dubious diagnosis methods, like pushing on the arm to determine nutritional needs. Since these may be useful in some cases, I do give counseling on, and can arrange for distribution of the best available products that I have researched, and also give my opinion on what you already have been using concerning nutrition, exercise, stretching, stress reduction, etc..

Nutrition, herbology, stress management, and eclectic manual medicine diversity combine here to create the safest effective approach to treating pain and dysfunction in human nerves, muscles, joints, fascia, and other body systems. My techniques include Gonstead, Logan, Activator, Cox, Sacro-Occipital, Post-Neural Facilitation, Craniosacral, Mobilization, Visceral Manipulation, Still, Positional Release, Muscle Energy, Reflexology, Therapeutic Ultrasound, Traction, Touch of Health, Meditation, Deep Tissue, Effleurage, Myofascial Release, etc. Sessions can be at my home, yours, or at a spa, yet the latter 2 will cost extra. Most insurances accepted. Family practice for all ages.

Chiropractic and other scientifically proven natural means should be a central component of any sound health and wellness plan. These conservative means are much less invasive and safer than medical drugs and surgeries for non-life-threatening health problem for most lifestyles and all ages, in my opinion. Longevity, seal-healing capacity, mobility, strength, balance, stability, and the function of the entire body and mind are maximized using these prefered methods.
Additional Services Craniosacral, deep tissue massage, meditation, osteopathic therapy, movement and exercise rehabiltation, nutrition and herbal counseling, pain relief, back neck head shoulder hip leg arm hand foot pain or stiffness, work and auto accident correction, joint and fascia alignment
