I was seen for abnormal hair loss and recurrent red face with small breakouts. I had done extensive research on Synthroid and expressed my concern that Synthroid might be the culprit to my hair loss, red face and fatigue. I was told Synthroid did not have those type of reactions regardless of what I had read. I was diagnosed with Rosacea and hereditary baldness (even though no one in my family has ever gone bald). I was given several prescriptions (some which were over $100 after insurance). I did not get the prescriptions. A friend told of a wonderful naturopath in my area and saw her one week later. She put me on Armour Thyroid, ran some bood tests and noticed that I was Vit B12 deficient and put my on Vit B12. Within three weeks my energy was back and my red face had disappeared. My hair loss was decreasing. The culprit was either Synthroid, low Vit B12 levels or a combo of both. My complaint is not that I was given the wrong diagnosis as doctors are human and do make mistakes. My complaint is that my concerns over a medication I was taking was ignored and I was given a "blanket" diagnosis without even considering that it could have been the Synthroid or even running some blood tests to see if any levels were low. While Dr. Nicolozzi might be a good physician and her manner was pleasant she should have actually listened and heard what I was asking.
