I was referred to Dr. Cohen and the Oxford Rehabilitation Center after experiencing a really terrible fall. I'd experienced a fall at work when someone placed an object near me that I didn't see. I fell over it when I turned to walk to the office and was painfully incapacitated.

I'd gone to another place first. I'm so thankful that I was referred to Oxford and Dr. Cohen because the other place was a disaster. The other place was one of the Urgent Care Centers (a chain of them in Philly) nearby - and being told that my pain was "imaginary" for this reason - because I'd never "experienced childbirth"! That is what the physician's assistant said to me at the URGENT CARE center nearby, and that my tolerance to pain was underdeveloped. She told me I'd just have to suffer! This "urgent care" facility nearby dismissed my injury and tried to send me back to work when I could not stand.

After calling around I found someone that referred me to Dr. Cohen and his excellent staff at Oxford Rehabilitation Center.

THANK GOD.

With the previous bad diagnosis, I did enter physical therapy which helped, improve my condition. The underwater treadmill allowed me to move and exercise without the impact on my knees and legs. However, after a few months, I told Dr. Cohen that something else was still wrong. He sent me in for an MRI which revealed torn meniscus in both knees.

I never contacted that other Urgent Care place again. I won't name them here but they're literally just a few blocks away.

Due to the Urgent Care and their bad "diagnosis" it was 5 months later that I got an MRI when my pain did not go away. That place should be closed down. Too many of the urgent care places have really bad online reviews if you look.

This MRI diagnosis was a shock and surprise - however, it vindicated me from that other horrible and inaccurate Urgent Care misdiagnosis. Now I knew exactly what the source of my discomfort was about.

I was referred by an attorney who wanted me to pursue surgery as a solution. However, I did my own research on this and the surgery does not always lead to the best long-term consequences in all situations. Situations like this need to be examined for the severity of these tears in the meniscus.

I did my own research and meniscus surgery does not replace anything and simply cuts away the tissue. Often the long-term result of surgery is a more rapid transition to arthritis.

In talking with Dr. Cohen, he agreed with what I found in the research I did on my own and even after leaving Oxford, I know that how my knees function is limited compared to before my injury - but - that exercise, controlling my weight, eating an anti-inflammatory diet, and wearing the correct supportive footwear are the key things I must do to maintain mobility.

My mother is also a living example, who at age 82 swims every morning at 5 AM before going to her full-time job. She had a fall 30 years ago that left her with a torn meniscus in one knee, also and her example is also in line with the way to handle a torn meniscus without surgery.

Oxford Rehabilitation services was a blend of physical therapy using a physical Wii game attachment, one weekly massage, consultation with Dr. Cohen, and guided exercise by a therapist in that wonderful heated exercise pool, plus the use of the underwater treadmill. I don't think I've seen or heard of one of those at any other facility.

The staff is respectful and responsive to your needs.

Everyone working at Oxford Rehabilitation Center is professional and welcoming. It's a terrific place to go when you are impacted by an injury.

Another benefit they offer is pick up and drop off services if you're unable to drive to their location.

I highly recommend Dr. Marc Cohen, DC and the Oxford Rehabilitation Center for physical therapy after an injury.

Also - buy the right shoes. I go to the Walking Company Store. They have a machine that measures pressure points in your feet and they will tell you the best shoes to wear to address your walking issues.

They really go above and beyond to make me feel special. I've never been anywhere that seems to care more about their clients than here. They were easy to reach in an emergency. When I called they answered right away and I was so relieved to hear a friendly voice. I will absolutely return. I had an amazing experience, and they were by far the best I've ever seen. I was worried that they were going to wear an obnoxious cologne, because I've dealt with that at other places, but they didn't even wear cologne. It was fantastic to be able to breathe freely the entire time. The equipment they used during my adjustment was very advanced and sophisticated. It made me much more comfortable knowing that I was getting the most safe, current treatment. The staff is extremely friendly on every visit. Not only did Dr. Cohen and Dr. Farrell spend a lot of time but they went over my MRI in detail. Therapy always feels great especially the warm water pool.
