Finding a new Dr-especially psychiatrist-after abruptly moving from N.C to Houston in early 2013 seemed daunting-and I was stressed out.Houston has THOUSANDS of DR.s!!! Oh and I had to "quicklearn" quite a few significant differences between TX and the state NC I left-oooooh one I learned QUICK was when I went to a CVS to have prescriptions filled that me previous (NC) Dr had written for 3 months (seperate scripts each dated and signed) well the CVS pharmacy tech started ding the NO-NO headshake while letting me know they can't fill these,in Tx these particular meds HAVE to be filled in tripplicent.....ughhh!!! For the time being,I sent the scripts back home to my Mom in NC whom filled than sent me my meds, but I still needed a new Doc-stat- .....Many reasons led me to "Mind.Body,Spirit Wellness center 1)no lie, location was closeby 2)Female Dr-a must for me 3)Although my insurance was not on their list at the time-the 1st office visit of 150.--and 100 for follow up appts was within my budget. and 4) gotta admit,"Mind,Body Spirit on the title -liked the vibe.
Whoa!!! Thank goodness The Center and most importantly-Dr Wafaa Farag exceeded expectations. She has a very soothing manor about her.Appointments vary by what I need that day-there is NEVER the dreaded "glance at watch" -Normally If I am functioning well on my current meds and haven"t had any major issues, she is always glad to hear I am doing well, than (in my case) she writes 3-4 months prescriptions-unless there is a problem,i see Dr Faraag 4-5 times a yr.Now if I do have an issue with a medication, not working as well ect... or need to adjust dosage of another, she takes great care in helping me get my meds on point,She answers thoughtfully all my concerns,I just love that I have found a terrific Dr,who listens,is knowledgeable and has such genuine compassion and care for her patients.NOW ABOUT
THE OFFICE ITSELF-lets just say its 100% "no frills" :) Dr Faraag"s office is the first floor of a many decades old formerly 2 story residence located in the now hip coming up section of downtown Houston called Montrose.Parking is very limited,a couple spots out front, and a few more around back. The first year and a half or so,no matter what time I made my appt for (or day) wait time was minimal. But for over a year now, wait times have unfortunately gotten long, sometimes hours long, the waiting room(s) packed -there are 2 front used for seating.I believe Dr Faraag may have taken on patients from a colleague who may have retired or died,OR maybe everybody is figuring out what a gem of a physician she is. The waiting is a minor annoyance a couple times a year, and I do try to get earliest appt possible.,or last appt for the day on Friday's (On fridays the office closes at 12:00pm)
Would like to mention the small but friendly and helpful staff.I rarely take the time to write reviews, but everbody knows how difficult it is to find a great Dr you feel comfortable with and truly listens to you,Gotta say I am glad she is on the young side (early 50"s)as long as she stays in the area-I will a happy patient.

Dr.Farag is very honest, straightforward and sincere. I went in to her office 6 months ago messed up and without hope. 6 months later I have control of my life and realistic steps to take to maintain control. All of this is because of her help. Anybody who has anything negative to say about her is probably the type of person not wanting real help. If there are complaints of waiting to long well I can say yes you do wait sometimes. But big deal it is worth it. Lots of people need help therefore you should expect a wait time. She is always there for me and always honest even when I might not want to hear the truth. I really know she cares and my life is better off now than it was before I walked into her office. Thanks doc :-) First name Derek last name Anonymous :-)
