I visited this Dentist in hopes of finding one that is decent on my DMO plan. I thought I had struck it rich when I went in and dealt with their friendly staff, and what seemed to be a caring dentist, she was a bit of one to try to upsell for braces (my teeth are pretty straight) but I let that slide. She proceeds to tell me what good gums/teeth I have and how great they look. She then says, I am going to do a periodontal probe, I am thinking it's all a part of my insurance plan. To my dismay I go to leave and I am told there is a charge, I was floored because at NO time did the dentist tell me there was a fee associated with this OR that it is required. She just said she was doing it. I was also charged a copay but my insurance does not require one. The lady behind the reception area starts to tell me that it is required by Texas State legislation that all new patients have this probe done. I proceeded to tell her that they should disclose this to their patients out right, but that I know they don't because no one would come see them. I have been to MANY dentist, I take my kids to the dentist (they just went to a new dentist a while back) and NEVER has one charged me this ludicrous charge that this one did. I can't stop anyone from going, but just go in with your eyes wide open and learn from my mistake and ask a lot more questions. It's sad that so many people try to swindle others out of there hard earned money. But all I can do now is hope for a refund and try to warn others to enter with caution.
