Watauga Dental in Kingsport Tennessee is the WORST!! . The only reason I gave one star is because I had to in order to post the review. I hope anyone reading these reviews are able to view this because I noticed that several of the negative reviews are blocked out IMAGINE THAT!! However I wont stop until people hear me. Dr. Davis at Watauga Dental has DESTROYED MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!! Not only has he damaged a tooth to the point that I have to have it removed now because he drilled out a pre-existing filling because it was silver, no other reason thus (cosmetic only) and filled it with enamel filing knowing it would not hold like the silver filing would and I would ultimately have to return to the dental again if not time and time again to have it fixed thus MORE MONEY for Watauga Dental . Regarding said tooth they filled with enamel filling they assured me it would hold and if it did not they would fix it free of charge and make sure it would be taken care of . Approximately 2 weeks later the filling started coming out. I contacted Watauga Dental and I was told that I would have to pay for an exam $85 I believe and the dentist would advise me from that point as to his recommendations, after I was told he would be taken care of free of charge as it should have been. Over the course of the next 4 years I would call over and over and I was told the same thing over and over again. Finally I saw an offer for a free exam at a different Dental practice and took the exam to Watauga Dental but of course that exam would not work it although it clearly showed the exact tooth that Dr. Davis via Watauga Dental Practice drilled out and refilled with another filling. I had the notes and the photo exam. However unless my exam was done at WATAUGA DENTAL practice it would not be accepted. Needless to say I contacted a few attorneys for advice, I was advised and when I called Watauga Dental to get some documents all of a sudden Watauga Dental did not know me or have any documentation of any such procedure done on said tooth. I was and still am to this day blown away at how dishonest, crooked, and negligent this dental practice is!! Further my children have all went to Watauga Dental practice since they were young. At the time I didn't pay much attention to it because I had insurance for the kids but after doing some research and investigating of my own. I found out that Watauga Dental is basically taking insurance money from Tenncare and or other insurance companies for services that are not needed. Basically Watauga Dental is telling people they have cavities and other dental care needs they don't need. Just one one visits of many my oldest child was told she has 4 cavities. She had no pain, decaying or problems of any kind with 3 out of 4 of the teeth so she went to get a second and third opinion since her insurance covered it . She was told by the other two dental practices that she only had 1 cavity that needed fixed. They are recommending root canals and other costly procedures to patients that do NOT need those procedures. So if you choose to go to Watauga Dental and I certainly do NOT recommend you do but if you do and you have insurance make sure to pay close attention to what they recommend or insist you get and ALWAYS get a 2nd or 3rd opinion ALWAYS!!!!!! make sure to NEVER discuss one dental opinion with another because that is how you get manipulated just fyi. Also pay close attention to how they make your appointments especially cleaning's and procedures. They threatened me that if I did not take my child for a pre-scheduled (without confirming appointment with me just made it) cleaning every 6 months that I would loose my Tenncare. I said "well to be honest with you I nor may children have never had so many dental problems in our LIVES since we started coming to Watauga Dental and frankly am traumatized by it and scared to go to ANY dentist because of trauma I personally have endured at the personal hands of Dr. Davis at Watauga Dental Practice. Thus I am scared to ever come back to Watauga Dental or go elsewhere although I know that not all dental practices are like Watauga Dental Practice, I am truly mortified by what has happened to me alone. Thus I have not been back to Watauga Dental but will be going elsewhere when my personal insurance starts very soon at which point I will have all the documentation I need to continue on with the actions I intend to take. I will never go to Watauga Dental for ANY reason or advise anyone to go back there. Also anyone that has an appointment for a procedure make sure you pay attention to each visit prior to that procedure. Watauga Dental will schedule several appointments to fix what teeth that are SUPPOSEDLY in need of fixing but stretch it out over a long period of time because each visit they get paid from your insurance company. Therefore if this happens make sure to contact your insurance company and tell them exactly how the appointment went. If you never scene by the dentist and or had any dental work done at all make sure your insurance company knows that because Watauga Dental is making numerous appointments and falsely claiming work that is NOT being done therefore they are getting paid by the insurance companies for dental work that was NEVER done . This is called Tenncare Fraud and it is ILLEGAL!!! Finally the worst part my youngest which was about 6 or 7 at the time had a silver filing put in for a SUPPOSED cavity. I asked about the silver verses the enamel again at that time and Dr. Davis said the reason he chose silver is because it was a baby tooth and would eventually fall out anyway thus not as important as mine per say because mine was an adult permanent tooth that I had to live with thus enamel was his recommendation for mine at the time n his opinion. Well since then I have found out that SILVER is the best choice because it holds much better than enamel and they reason he chose silver on my daughter is because when he drilled the cavity out he split her tooth in half so he needed the best filling possible to hold it together. Of course I did not know this until the tooth fell out just recently when I had to pull out to broken pieces out of my babies mouth as she was hurting not once but TWICE because of Dr. Davis via (Watauga Dental Practice) incompetent and negligent dental practices. Finally, I have to get a false tooth in place of the tooth that Dr. Davis destroyed which is going to cost me in access of $4000.00 or more dollars and I hope once my insurance starts that I will be able to finally get it replaced and smile again. It has been a long 5 years of excessive depression, excessive anxiety, not smiling, seldom going out around people. I don't like my picture taken and I used to be a model and LOVED being in front of the camera but now if I have to take a family photos or holiday photo I have had to edit pictures because of the end result of the decayed tooth that Dr. Davis refused to fix after destroying it because it has rotted over the past 5 years, Decayed teeth not only cause emotional damage but they also cause physical damage because the bacteria gets into our blood stream thus causing sickness. Untreated tooth decay may cause infection, extreme pain and the loss of tooth. The decay process begins with the unnoticeable or in my case NOTICEABLE damage to the enamel of your teeth and then steadily progresses to deeper layers of the tooth, eventually leading to the pulp of the tooth and resulting into much more serious dental and healthy concerns. There are also much more serious medical and mental conditions that are caused by decaying teeth that can be researched via the internet. I personally have experience ALOT of mental as well as medical conditions. In closing one final thought, if you don' take chances with your health care choices why take chances with your dental care choices. PAY ATTENTION to reviews and make sure to always follow your gut if something does not feel right it probably is not right just saying. ,Our smile speaks volumes without saying a word. A lot about who we are and how we feel can be communicated with a smile. A healthy, attractive smile also creates a lasting impression as to how others see us on an ongoing basis because our smile says a lot about who we are therefore it is important to have good teeth if at all possible. I have spent my whole life trying to take care of my teeth because I used to like to smile, be happy and positive but now I can't be happy or positive because I hate my smile, I hate my teeth. I am so depressed by this that I don't even know how to smile anymore and that alone has affected my emotional state beyond words :(
