He has been court appointed on issues related to insanity defense, fitness to stand trial, custody, divorce proceedings, guardianship and other areas of psychiatry involving legal matters. He has also published and given lectures in this area.
Since the time of his Residency in Psychiatry, at Illinois State Psychiatric Institute in Chicago, now affiliated with University of Illinois, Dr. Ali has been involved with clinical research and teaching. He was a Principal Investigator in a study gathering data on Treatment Refractory Depression (TRD) sponsored by Cyberonics, Inc., which produces devices for Vagus Nerve Stimulation.
Dr. Ali has given more than two hundred presentations to doctors, pharmacists and others of varied professional background. He has appeared on television shows, and written up in the news media.
