Dr. Hovick earned his B.S. from the University of Iowa in 1975. He earned his doctor of dental surgery (DDS) from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1979. He completed a general practice residency at the Veterans Administration (VA) hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Hovick practiced general dentistry in St. Louis, Missouri for five years before completing his postgraduate periodontal training at the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry in 1987.
