BEWARE!!!

My appt began after waiting over an hour from the combined time in the crowded waiting room (nice, open, & clean otherwise) + 25 mins in the freezing room before he arrived. Staff were friendly and even helped me use X-rays taken for my next appt without issue. My review for Dr. Gomez is not as positive however:

Dr. Gomez gave a VERY SHORT examination on my shoulder and was off-topic on his questions, asking as much off-topic including any previous injuries to my good shoulder. He did NOT look at the MRI/Arthrogram images of the tearing in the shoulder of concern. He briefly glanced at the previous Dr.'s determination of the images and said and I quote, "that's a bunch of crap. They don't know what they are talking about". "These happen all the time, you don't need surgery", while he instructed his assistant to fill a needle with Cortisone. He advised that I had pain from Bursitis (inflammation), which if this were only true, a shot would help. He did not factor in my 10 month history of instability, pain, and complication following an impact injury. I was shocked at the speed to which he came to this conclusion, and was very insistent that I have a shot then & now. Dr. Gomez did not appear concerned about my past or current symptoms and came to the conclusion of pushing a shot into me within 5 minutes - it happened that fast - seriously! I wrote down quotes from memory directly after because I was so shocked at what he said:
"I've done thousands of these (Cortisone shots), and never had anybody come back with problems". (really!?? must be a published expert!)

I was literally being approached by the needle when I spoke up to say I only wanted an opinion before considering surgery as months of less-aggressive physical therapy and rest had not helped. Then he said:
"Well, you can do that, but make sure to come back here since none of the others will be able to do it (the shot) right".

I have not encountered such pushy and insistent pressure, and overuse of a professional authoritative role since shopping for a used car at a dealership!!

!!!! btw - upon seeing a known expert in shoulders, I DID require arthroscopic surgery during which full 360 degree labrum tearing was found and repaired with 7 anchors needed!! Dr. Gomez simply wanted to prescribe bursitis (symptom not cause of issue) pump me a shot, & bill $$$ to insurance and send me on my way in minutes. BEWARE!!!!!
