I have been in practice as a psychologist for many years in the Burbank/ Toluca Lake area. I specialize in individuals, adolescents, couples, and group therapy. I am also a wellness and executive coach with upcoming certification from The College of Executive Coaching and the International Coaching Federation.

I am psycho dynamic in my theoretical orientation but I have extensive training in many other evidence based psychotherapy practices, i.e. Flexible CBT training, mindfulness, hypnosis and systemic and humanistic theories.and practice.

For some services I am on many insurance panels, however, there are some services that are not covered by health insurance. Fees will be discussed prior to any services being provided.

I'm not really sure what the person who wanted to give Dr. Dousette negative stars was talking about. I go to a therapist because they are supposed to tell me what I am doing wrong in my life and why some of the crazy stuff I think about is actually not as important as I let myself think. This is why I go to Dr. Dousette and every time I would like to think I'm right, she tells me why what I am thinking and doing is causing me so much pain. If I wanted someone to tell me everything I thought and did was alright, I wouldn't need a therapist. She has never let me down and keeps me going in the right direction, even when I'm being stubborn and self-righteous. I would recommend her highly because I find her consistently professional and she always makes sure to help you understand why what you're doing is destructive and then is caring enough to help you find a better way to live. That's why she is amazing!

Dr Mary Dousette is clearly coming from a good place. She is compassionate and caring. However, there are some down sides to seeing her. She does not turn off the ringer of her office telephone during sessions so it will ring and she doesn't answer it, which is very distracting. Also, there were a few times when her cell phone rang during sessions and she answered it. I found this to be unprofessional and was one of the reasons I stopped seeing her. Outside of those distractions, she is a good listener. Her advice however is more motherly than professional. She tends to want to be friends with her patients and give them friendly advice. While that's nice, I don't think it's always as useful as it would be to challenge the patients or to offer more clinical ways of looking at or dealing with issues.
