Who doesn't need treatment for menopause?

According to the National Women's Health Information Center, the answer is most women.

I don't agree. I believe every person, man or women, deserves to know if they have an illness and has the right to decide for themselves if they want treatment or not.

So I contacted the National Women's Health Information Center via their website. I requested that women be informed that untreated menopause is untreated hypogonadism. Here is a copy of my request. I'll let you know how they respond.

To whom it may concern,

I read your definition of menopause,

"Menopause is not a disorder. Most women do not need treatment for it.",

at http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/menopause.html

Medically, this is untrue. Any woman who has suffered gonadal failure is now suffering from profound hypogonadism. Menopause is caused by gonadal failure. Gonadal replacement for gonadal failure can only be a treatment option if a person, male or female, is informed of their options.

Therefore, I am requesting that this site be updated with this information. Women have a right to choose whether to be treated or not for profound hypogonadism. They can't make that choice unless you tell them that they have this illness.

Thank you,
