I have been here twice. Nightmare. Multiple counselors told me they had been hired through aptitude tests and no prior experience in mental health field. They told me I wasn't taking responsibility for my illness...I had been going to a psychiatrist and therapist since age 18. Social workers knowingly sent a person home after the person told them household was abusive and person was fearful. A doctor who sees you for less than two minutes put you on psychotropic drugs that made most patients exhausted, as in can't get out of bed exhausted. During this exhaustion they TELL you what a contract says and when you agree to what they have SUMMARIZED, you sign the contact, then go back to bed. They required I go to outpatient at the Ridge in order to be released. This added on to astronomical bill, even though the counselor at the outpatient center told me I was "fully covered" by my insurance. After discharge, mental illness grew worse and lost my job. When I explained this to business office, they said they did not have any method to address bills people could not pay (like real hospitals such as UK) and I signed a contract (still don't know what was actually in that thing, never given copy). I did not decline to pay once I found this out and when I had to choose between food and The Ridge one month, I missed a payment. They sent me to collections. Fine, whatever. The Ridge collection agency in TN continues to tell me I don't pay enough, even though I pay as much as I can EVERY month without fail, when I am below the poverty level (on disability and government aid). The manager of the Ridge's collection agency was verbally informed of my situation and the only thing she said was, "You should have never been set up on a payment less than $100 a month to begin with." The Ridge does not care about anybody's mental health, only care about getting paid.

Unfortunately we took our 15 yr old there under advise of a therapist. She had anxiety. This place treats your children as if they are in prison. One phone call a day only!!! Will not allow visits but 3 X aweek. They do complete internal external body strip searches! Mental health and drug patients coexisting. Boys and girls having unsupervised physical contact. They are only out for the money and will lie to your ins. company to continue the child as long as possible. They told our ins. co our daughter was suicidal!!!! The doctor Reiser is a mad scientist. Our daughter said they repeated over and over to her that she was worse off than she felt. They put thoughts in her head on daily basis. If your child is there, GO GET THEM OUT!!!! If you are considering this place--look somewhere else.

My fiancee is there to detox from pain pills that she required, but overused, after a painful series of surgeries, and she won't be back. The staff is made up of arrogant, heartless control freaks. I understand the need for rules, but they are draconian, and apply no common sense or compassion when enforcing those rules. I am her only emotional connection, and she has pleaded to see me briefly each day, but they refuse! She is probably going to leave early, because she is being denied her source of support and comfort. They don't care about what is best for her. They care about rules, control, and collecting insurance money.

She is an adult, and they have no right to tell her what to do. She is the paying customer, and should be accommodated and treated as such, within reason. If you need a rehab center, ask questions, and find one with compassion and common sense.
