The driver is not paying attention to where the car is going and it is up to you to get out of the way of danger. You feel this surge of energy and you jump out of the way. Now to explain, the car coming toward you is the stressor. Your surge of energy, an adrenaline rush, is your body's reaction to that stress that allows you to get out of the way safely.
In biological terms it is all about stress and reaction. Adrenaline is what allows us to react to stress. Adrenaline is a hormone, but it can also act to gives us energy on a daily basis. The interesting thing about stress is that it has evolved. Until we became "civilized" stress used to be occasional instances that affected our survival like out-running a bear or fighting off a neighboring clan trying to steal our food. Now, stress is bombarding us from all directions, it may be smaller stresses like getting bills paid on time, work deadlines, family commitments, or stepping out of the way to avoid a car, but it is constant.
Constant stress requires our bodies to constantly respond. When your body is constantly "switched on" and it never gets the relief it needs, it can lead to changes in the levels of brain and nerve chemicals called neurotransmitters. These changes create a neurotransmitter imbalance and can lead to serious health problems like low mood, anxiousness, sleep difficulties, muscle pain, high blood pressure, chronic illness and weight gain just to mention a few.
It is now possible to measure these neurotransmiters with a simple test using saliva and urine. Send the samples to a specialized laboratory for analysis and we learn what the neurotransmitter balance looks like. With that information, It is possible to target therapy to bring the neurotransmitters back to normal and balanced levels. Balance the levels and the emotional and physical symptoms resolve.

Food that Makes you Sick

Wellness.com - Food that Makes you Sick by doc0333

Soft drinks linked to development of diabetes in children
Posted by sandco on December 20, 2007

Researchers have found new evidence that soft drinks sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) may contribute to the development of diabetes, particularly in children. In a laboratory study of commonly consumed carbonated beverages, the scientists found that drinks containing the syrup had high levels of reactive compounds that have been shown by others to have the potential to trigger cell and tissue damage that could cause the disease, which is at epidemic levels. HFCS is a sweetener found in many foods and beverages, including non-diet soda pop, baked goods, and condiments. It is has become the sweetener of choice for many food manufacturers because it is considered more economical, sweeter and more easy to blend into beverages than table sugar. Some researchers have suggested that high-fructose corn syrup may contribute to an increased risk of diabetes as well as obesity, a claim which the food industry disputes. Until now, little laboratory evidence has been available on the topic.

Prozac Busted

Wellness.com - Prozac Busted by doc0333

taken from Doc Crow's WEB BLOG
Posted on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 06:57 www.doccrow.com

Exercise, fish oils, chiropractic, nutrition, colon therapy, hobbies, family, vitamins & minerals, community, purpose in life. These things fix depression of the mind better than the drugs Prozac, Paxil and the other anti-depressants.

The makers of Prozac got busted today. They withheld the research that objectively reported their anti-depressant drugs did not work as reported. How many years have people been taking anti-depressant drugs that didn't work like the medical doctor said?

Why are not medical doctors recommending the above-mentioned therapies instead of drugs? Money, money, money, money... Medical doctors are trained to use drugs, not other more effective, safer, less expensive techniques. Once again, our medics are found to be wrong and mis-informed. When can we trust them to know anything about health care? Their treatments are drugs, radiation and tissue removal treatments.

And drug research is once again flawed. The drug companies that fund research, make enormous profits off of the drugs the create, study and promote. Is there a conflict of interest here? Should not our medics protect us from harmful things? Or rather should we be protected from our medics?

How many children have been in the news recently going on killing sprees or committing suicide that were taking these drugs? We've spoke of this before. The makers of Prozac should be held liable for deaths caused by their out-ethic actions.

When someone says their drugs or treatments are "scientifically proven, research proven", question the source of the research. Corporations that benefit from their own research are flawed and should not be trusted.

Depression? Do many things and you can safely fix that problem. Don't do the drugs.

Depression Relief

Wellness.com - Depression Relief by doc0333

There is a depression epidemic. It must be true because there are currently 23 or more antidepressant prescription drugs available in the United States. The purpose of these drugs is to concentrate or alter one or more brain chemicals called neurotransmitters. These drugs can relieve depression symptoms. The problem with the drugs are that it can take more and more drug to maintain that good feeling and there are serious side effects. You can look these up at http://www.antidepressantsfacts.com/antidepressants-ADF.htm There is another way. We can now do a simple test to measure 16 different neurotransmitters. If the test results are an imbalance or insufficiency, then we can do targeted nutritional or amino acid therapy to support your body's own neurotransmitter production and balance. Neurotransmitters are manufactured by nerve cells out of amino acids. We know which amino acid will make a given neurotransmitter. You take an amino acid. No side effects. It's support of normal nerve function. If you are on an antidepressant, or other mood altering drug, your need for the prescribed dose may be reduced or eliminated. Therefore it is important to work with your prescriber to decrease your dosage as needed.
The Hope that Comes with Back Pain

Wellness.com - The Hope that Comes with Back Pain by doc0333

Each person that has pain has one hope: to get out of pain fast.
In my office, we provide not only the fastest possible pain relief
without the use of drugs, but treatment focused the prevention
of pains' return. In addition to that, I coach and strategize with
my patients in the mysteries of Wellness Care. I'll explain more
about that later.
Lets' say you were cleaning the leaves out of the gutters and
you fell off your ladder yesterday. You're hurting today. That's
an acute condition. Lets' say that, ten years ago you were
cleaning the leaves out of the gutter when you fell off your
ladder. Your back bothered you on and off ever since but now
your back really hurts. That's a chronic condition.
Acute spinal problems always have swelling, often have
stretched or torn ligaments, usually there's muscle spasm that
get worse with movement (try moving around with a back
spasm) and, on occasion, has nerve pressure or a pinched nerve.
If an acute spinal problem just started, then it should get better
with a short course of chiropractic care. The goal for the acute
problem is pain relief and nothing works as well as chiropractic care.
But for the chronic problem, it will probably take longer to fix.
Why?. Because over time, muscles have gotten weaker,
connective tissues have stretched, disc problems might have
started, and spinal alignment has deteriorated. What about
when the pain is gone in chronic problems? Here, the spine will
require rehabilitation and stabilization to prevent pain from
returning.
The goal of rehabilitation and stabilization is to return the
normal curves and alignments of the spinal vertebra and keep
them that way until all the connective tissue can adapt to hold
the vertebra in proper alignment. The treatment may not be so
different from acute care, but there is a decreasing frequency of
the visits. The result of rehabilitation and stabilization is the
prevention of future episodes of pain and improved overall
health.
Wellness care considers not only the condition of your spine
and nervous system, but also your fitness, immune function,
mental clarity, focus, stress response, emotional well being,
enthusasm for living and sense of purpose. Wellness care
emphasises nutrition, lifestyle, neurotransmitters, and stress
management. Those who choose Wellness Care expierence
more energy, less illness, and a fuller expression of life.
