You don't even know me, yet you took the time to respond to my sadness. I really appreciate the support and encouragement, and I am feeling better about things. It helps to know there are people out there who are kind and still care about their fellow human beings! It reminds me that I, too, need to reach out to others who may be in need of my support or help. Thanks so much!!!

Down in the dumps...

Wellness.com - Down in the dumps... by Alliedog

I think I'm going to look through the wellness.com website and some other places, but I'm wondering if anyone out there has some suggestions for dealing with depression from grief? It's funny; I've dealt with depression before, but it's been a long time ago, and it's never been from losing family members. But dealing with the guilt of my grandmother's death, worrying about my grandfather who probably won't be around much longer, and going to the funeral of my great-aunt all in one week has taken a toll. I'm tired, I don't want to do anything, and everything aches. I'm not myself. And of course I'm not eating well or wanting to exercise, which doesn't help anything either. I think I'm going to go take my dog for a walk - I'll check back here later and see if anyone has anything. Thanks for reading my blog and any suggestions you might have.

Well...

Wellness.com - Well... by Alliedog

It's a week (I think) since I started this blog. I was thinking I would be gone longer on my trip, but while I was visiting my Grandfather in one state my grandmother in another state passed away, so I'm home and can write again.
I didn't do TOO badly while I was gone. I did go running one day, which I really don't mind doing, but it's so hard on my knees that I can't go up and down stairs very well and I have to eat a lot of Advil for a day or two afterward, so I'm thinking it's just not my best exercise. Biking, walking, and the machines at the Y are my best bet. I've bought a swimsuit, too, so I can try lap swimming.
As far as the eating, I tried to eat less than I normally would, and I stayed away from snacks and coffee, with a couple of exceptions. I'm thinking now that I'm just going to have to substitute fruit for desserts or make sure that I eat less so that I can budget in the dessert, which I do love. I didn't gain any weight, though, while I was gone, so I'm happy about that, and I did do a lot of walking and played lawn darts, so at least I was active and not sitting around the whole visit.

The road to Wellsville.

Wellness.com - The road to Wellsville. by Alliedog

Yesterday I began. Again. The effort to lose some weight, manage stress, gain more energy, and just feel better about myself. I'm trying more tools this time. I'm using my chiropractor, Dr. Leahy, to adjust and provide advice on my neck and shoulder pain, as well as on health in general. Mark is making me do crunches, the one exercise I truly hate, with him in the evenings. I'm keeping track of my food, exercise, and weight in a memoryminder so that I can analyze what I'm doing right and where I need to improve. Now if just didn't feel so tired from yesterday!!!!!!
