They barely gave me any information at all. I'm going to have to do my own research to get my questions answered. Their staff was not that friendly, and didn't go out of their way to make me feel welcome. I feel like my appointment was pointless. None of my questions were answered, nothing was accomplished, and I felt worse when I left. I found the office, but only because I had simple, very clear directions. I wish it had been easier to locate. I would never visit them again. I was very disappointed.

On the last visit, I was very ill with a respiratory infection. I asked Dr. Smith if she would look at my throat and listen to my lungs. She told me no, go to your regular doctor. It was a Friday afternoon at 3 and I was unable to see my doctor before Monday. I went to the ER and was diagnosed with the SWINE FLU as well as Type 1 and 2 flu. My lung capacity was only 20%. I had to drive down a windy mountain road and then up another mountain to northern NM. I could have been killed. She is close to 70 and she should RETIRE. She is not current with modern treatments and was pushing me to have a sleep test. I have no problems sleeping and I think she gets a kickback from the company she recommended as she didn't want me to go anywhere else. This is a very poor doctor.

I have been a patient at Dr. Smith's office for around 3 years. I find her knowledgeable, friendly, and concerned. Compared to other rheumatologists I have seen (around 8), I give her high marks for the quality of her examination and the extent to which she keeps up with the literature. Some of her office staff are unfriendly, but the person who currently mans the front desk is a major improvement in that department. I do not like the fact that they do not have a credit card machine, which makes it hard to use my flexible spending account to pay for my co-payments.

This doctor seems very knowledgeable about the topic, but is too busy and getting return appointments is difficult and seeing her inbetween scheduled appointments is nearly impossible, regardless of new developments in my condition and a significant spike in pain.

Doctor Smith, is a very warm person and has a great bed-side manner, however, her office staff is not helpful and act stand-offish. I have not had an interacction with Dr. Smith's support staff that left me with a sense that my condition is important, it occurs more like they percieve it as a problem that I am wanting to see the doctor.

I am trying to see a regional expert on my condition for a diagnosis and Dr. Smith's staff has erected barriers to my gaining the information I need and getting my records transfered to the Doctor at UNM Hospital.

I can recommend Dr. Smith personally, but I can not recommend her office as her staff is very offputting, unhelpful and standoffish to people who are already suffering from very difficult health problems.

I felt that they really valued my health and happiness because they followed up even after my appointment just to check up on me. It was such a nice gesture that made a huge difference. They explained all the risks and benefits of my treatment options. Everything was explained in detail, all my questions were answered, and I felt a lot better about choosing a treatment plan. I noticed their diplomas and credentials immediately when I walked in the door. They were obviously very qualified.
