She seemed very nice on the phone. I wanted to try group work with her but she did not send me any paperwork about scheduling, any agreement of payment, HIPPA consent form, anything. I placed a deposit for a group and she did not give me receipt. I asked to opt out of the group with enough time and she did not reimburse me my money and actually told me that she had to decide whether I was worthy of having my money reimbursed and possibly needed to teach me a lesson. That is highly unethical. I sent her to small claims court and she refused to give me back my money. As a therapist it is not ethical to harm a client and she did this both emotionally and financially.

Saw Dr. Chris Samuels for therapy. She is incredibly knowledgeable about sex addiction and trauma but is a poor therapist. She insists she is right and that others are wrong. Her basic approach is to make you feel that SHE knows but you do not. Any disagreement with her is not tolerated-- you are labeled as not living in reality. It is her way or no way. Basically, you feel belittled and controlled by the therapist.

Took me years with another therapist, a good one, to overcome 4.5 years of seeing Dr. Samuels twice a week.

Understanding an issue does not a good therapist make.

Do not waste your money. We've spent several thousands of dollars over 2 years at this place, due to my husband's sex addiction. The therapist, Christine Samuels, told my husband that she didn't see a reason to continue seeing him anymore-- that he had been "cured" of his sex addiction so to speak. He is such a good liar (as are most addicts) he was even able to dupe his therapist. Needless to say, months after stopping therapy he continues to act out with sex addict behaviours-- still keeping secrets, lying, contacting prostitutes, picking up women in bars, and who knows what else. He had only figured out a way to cover his tracks better. What a waste of time and money. I wish Chris Samuels could have seen through his lies, and give him the help he needed. I thought she was experienced.

Saw Dr. Samuels regularly and her manner didn't work for me. Though she knows a lot about sex addiction she's a lousy therapist. All,of my friends stopped seeing her with same thoughts after awhile. And when confronted its NEVER her issue. Always excuses. Sad.
