I had a *very* different experience here than the previous two reviewers, as I was committed to the facility and did not have the option to leave. Supposedly I would have been transferred out of the acute psych ward unit in 24 hours had the on-call psych bothered to do the paperwork, but he didn't bother for several horrific days (four as I recall), nor did he complete the paperwork for vegetarian meals for a week -- and the kitchen staff wouldn't give them to me without the order -- so I didn't eat much that week. Additionally, I was told at my medical check-up that my calcium was low and my sodium was high, and they wanted to medicate me for that when it's never before been true in my life. I told them that if they would give me more than one tiny carton of milk a day and stop over-salting the food, I wouldn't have a problem -- and I was right. Two weeks after discharge all of my levels were fine, because I was feeding myself! Once I was on "the other side" (out of acute care) things were far better, but I was extremely bored as there wasn't much "program" (and NO 12-step meetings). I will say that the psychiatrist to whom I was assigned for aftercare was fantastic, and literally changed my life for the better, so I suppose the whole thing was worth it, but except for him I sure wouldn't do it again if I had the choice.
