Dr. Maynard has been our Family Doctor since he came
to Benson. He's a very good Doctor and has a great staff
working with him!!! The only way I would get another
doctor, is if he ever retired!!!

The staff is very friendly and the facility is always clean. My doctor takes the time to listen intently and address any concerns or questions. I like that they have an in-house lab and X-Ray departments.

Horrible facility. As a new patient I dealt with the following issues:

1.) January 19th, 2016 my appointment was scheduled for 3:30pm. I received a phone call at or about 1:55pm advising me that Mr. Craig Jerome, FNP had called the office early that morning and advised them that he wasn’t able to see patients that day and that my appointment needed to be re-scheduled for a later date. This call was made just 1 hour and 5 minutes prior to when I was told to arrive (3:00pm) and only 35 minutes prior to the time in which I needed to leave to arrive on time.
2.) The appointment above was re-scheduled (begrudgingly) to January 22, 2016 at 1:30pm. Due to weather conditions the Benson Area Medical Center closed for the day, however, the office made no indication to any media outlets of the closure and no calls were made to the patients indicating the closure. In fact, I called the day prior and was told by an employee that “I just needed to wait and see if they would be open” by calling the office that day.
3.) The appointment above was again re-scheduled (begrudgingly) to January 28, 2016 at 2:00pm. Now, as stated above I made the appointment for an in-grown toenail to be removed. Mr. Jerome, FNP saw me on this day and advised me that it looked infected so he would place me on an antibiotic and when I finished that to schedule the removal with the front office, however, he doesn’t do that procedure so it will have to be with another provider. With that being said, if it was known that he doesn’t do that procedure, I should have been scheduled with the individual that does complete those procedures from the start of this entire issue!
4.) Antibiotics were completed and I was scheduled for surgery on February 10th, 2016 with another provider, name unknown at this time. This procedure and appointment went great, I was happy with the service this provider and her nurse provided. She advised me to schedule a follow-up with Mr. Jerome, FNP.
5.) Follow-up appointment was scheduled for March 1, 2016 at 10:30am. I arrived at the office at 10:20am and singed in with reception and paid my insurance co-pay. At 10:30am I was called back to the exam room and the nurse immediately took my vitals. I then waited for 45 minutes in the exam room with not one person advising me that there was a.) An emergency, b.) Unexpected wait times or c.) Apologizing for the wait. At this time I left the exam room and went to the check-out counter where I asked the employee to refund my co-pay as it was apparent that my provider failed to show up to my appointment. She asked if I wanted to make another appointment and I advised her that I wasn’t going to be returning to this facility again.
6.) On March 2, 2016 at 8:51am, I received a phone call from an individual advising me she was Mr. Jerome’s nurse. She started the conversation with “It seems as you missed your appointment with Mr. Jerome yesterday” and I quickly told her that I DIDN’T MISS ANYTHING, Mr. Jerome missed his appointment with me and I was there. I then explained the situation and she told me that I was next to be seen when I left. I advised her that my appointment time was 10:30 and that 45 minutes waiting without any explanation as to why was unacceptable and that my time was valuable. She advised me that Mr. Jerome was inquiring about how my toe was healing and I advised her that it was fine. She asked if I wanted to make another appointment and I advised her that I wasn’t going to be returning to this facility again, just as I had done with the check-out employee the previous day.
7.) On March 3, 2016 at 2:26pm, I received another call, this time from an office assistant with the facility. Again, I was greeted by the phrase, “It seems as you missed your appointment with Mr. Jerome yesterday” and was asked if I would be rescheduling. I again explained the situation to this employee and told them I wasn’t going to be returning to this facility again.
8.) On March 5, 2016, I received a “Courtesy Notice” in the mail from Benson Area Medical Center. This “notice” states that I missed my appointment without calling in advance to reschedule or change the appointment. Furthermore, it states that “When patients fail to keep appointments without notifying us in advance, this results in unnecessary delays of care for others” and “Your family’s health is important to us, and we trust that bringing our concern to you will eliminate further problems.”

I had no previous doctor, so a friend recommended them to me. This is the worst Medical facility I have yet visited. They have lost so much of my information as well as not only do they not listen they don't call you when they say they will. If you like being herded around like cattle, not being able to see an ACTUAL doctor, then this is the place for you. For me, I think it is time to find someone else, someone who won't be so quick to put you on medication and give you the opportunity to get healthy through diet and exercise!!

The staff was extremely warm and welcoming, and made every effort to make me feel right at home. They are professional and treat the whole person to improve your quality of life. What I like is you can trust the Dr. and Staff and they treat you with respect and kindness. I felt welcomed and I will be returning. I have already recommended many of the families that I know to Benson Medical Center. They truly deserve more appreciation and recommendations than I can give! Everyone in my community knows that they are the absolute best in the field. The whole facility is always very clean, neat and orderly. It is very obvious that they take pride in the office's appearance. It is the best office in appearance and care I've visited.
