Gateway Pharmacy is a lovely store to visit if being harassed and accused of stealing ranks high on your list of enjoyments. After filling a prescription with my boyfriend we were approached in the parking lot by a man who flashed a badge and told my boyfriend that he saw him stealing pill containers, which we had purchased 2 of at $1.99 a piece. My boyfriend emptied his pockets and even asked to be taken inside and searched. We then asked to have the camera footage reviewed to prove our innocence but were denied. He took a picture of my license plate and told me that his problem wasn't with me, but with my "drunk" boyfriend, because he smelled beer on his breath. If one after work beer makes someone drunk, then guilty as charged! After getting in my car and starting to leave, I changed my mind because of how outraged and embarrassed I was. I went into the store and asked for the man's badge number and name wanting to file a complaint as he implied he was an officer of the law. Apparently that question was enough to have him call the actual police saying I was in violation of trespassing. I have NEVER been so utterly embarrassed and truly mortified. I don't know what this security guard thinks happened in the store tonight, but he couldn't be farther from the truth and I hope he feels horrible when he reviews the footage. If buying pill containers makes you a criminal then I guess we are. It's funny that the reason we thought to buy them is because not only has my boyfriend had major back surgery, but he also suffered a heart attack not long ago. He is on too many medications to name which must be on hand 24/7 for his health. To make matters even worse, I called the pharmacy when I got home to talk with the manager who put the same man (security guard, not COP) who harrassed us on the phone. He told me the cops were looking for me. Yet when I called the police obviously upset and talked to a very kind and moral officer, I was informed that noone was looking for me and no charges had been filed. So thanks Gateway for condoning this kind of behavior from your security guard. What wonderful customer service and treatment! I never thought I'd be proud of being banned from an establishment but I am in this case. I wouldn't give Gateway Pharmacy a penny!
