I plan on telling everyone I know about how terrible this nursing home is. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. The care and services of colonial columns has declined rapidly. I would give it 00000000000000 stars if I could. They are severely understaffed and residents waiting for responses from nurses are very long. As a former employee I have seen residents wait as long as 30 min before their food was served on time because of poor staffing. I have seen residents in agony (pain) because the nurses only give the residents 1/2 dose of pain medicine. There is 1 resident named Sheila Transue who is deaf and blind banging her head
on walls & doors while screaming for over an hour and constantly left unattended because of low staffing. another resident (90 years old) who was a fall risk had broken her hip because of being left unattended and allowed to get up out of her wheel chair and fell. another resident was left unattended (also a fall risk) got out of her wheelchair and hit her head on the floor causing brain damage and blood all over the floor. She passed away a week later. The low numbers of staff that are there suffer from work related stress as they are overwhelmed with too much work with no 30 min lunch breaks. If they take a mandatory lunch break as mandated by federal labor laws they will fall behind in their duties and get written up by management for poor performance as a result. Staff members are consistently told to work for weeks on end with no days off because of low staffing.
Staff members who put in 2 week notices to look for other work are fired on the spot and told not to bother putting in their notice. Managers and supervisors consistently receive bonuses from their corporate bosses (fattening their wallets) for staying within budget guidelines and residents receive poor care as a result.
All said and done this is why I am giving such a poor review for this nursing home.
Colonial columns is a sister facility of Sava Corporation of many nursing homes across America.
If Colonial Columns is run this way no doubts all the other facilities are also run in the same manner. Other Sava facilities in the Colorado Springs area are:

Cedarwood Health Care Center/ Terrace Gardens Health Care Center/Aspen Living Center
As I said before I am a former Employee and Whistleblower of Colonial Columns Nursing
Center So I know what goes on there.

One of the worst places in the Springs. Wish I had never placed my Mom in this hellhole. No fall preventions for high risk residents, undiagnosed medical conditions and residents items go missing and they are never found. Unqualified staff with a huge turnover. People working with dementia patients who have no training at all. Avoid this place.

This is a Medicaid facility so take it from there. Low staff to resident ratio, too many falls with broken bones, residents are put in wheelchairs and left in the halls, incompetent nursing staff that fail to assess residents after falls. Pass the buck is the motto when confronted with why did this happen.
