Dr. Daniel Hyler got me hooked on Xanax, and then dumped me without just cause. There should be a law to prevent this from happening. When I first saw Hyler I had no idea what Xanax was or just how additive of a drug it was. For over 6 years I took this drug, and now my life is in ruins because of it. here is a letter that wrote to him..........................Dear Dr. Hyler,

I have reviewed my medical report that I got from your office after you sent me a certified letter discharging me from your practice, “with no explanation as to why this action was being taking, and in my confusion, as to why you were doing this, after making many phone calls, and getting no call backs, I sent you a letter, (which you will find enclosed as well as a copy of your discharging me), asking you to reply, you also did not reply, so after I finely got you medical report, to my surprise. There were many untruths in just why you were dismissing me as one of your patents.

Dr. Hyler, surely you should be able to understand why I was so confused, as you have never even indicated to me in 6 years that you had this on your mind, (dismissing me), as I look at the date on your discharging summary this was wrote back on the 2nd of February of this year, (2006), yet you have seen me many times after that, to check my PT/INR, write me prescriptions of Xanax, Coumadin, as will as cold, and flue prescriptions. Dr. Hyler you even seen me on the 20th of November, and said nothing, as you smiled as you left the examining room, yet the letter of dismissal was written the next day, “although, I never received it until almost a month later”. Dr. you also added one of the reasons for dismissal was that I would not follow up on my appointments, Dr. as for as I know you or your office has NEVER gave me a follow up appointment card not even a verbal one after leaving your office, I managed this on my on, I am not a Dr. how do I know when to come back, unless you tell me? You told me that my PT/INR was, “just rite” a number of times, and only a few times have you told me that it needed to be adjusted just a bit, not, “greatly out of control”, as you stated in your discharging summary.

Now Dr. Hyler, we both know that I do have an alcohol problem, witch is why you put me on the Xanax to start of with, (the highest dose you can get, 1mg. 3 times a day, 90 pills a month) Dr. after I got the dismissal letter I done a little research on this drug because I know when I don’t take one I start to feel really bad, so now that you have dismissed me I thought am I addicted to this drug, and if I am what should I do, Now that I won’t be able to get them? After I read all the horror stories I have been a panic and have not been to able to work, or even function at all unless I take one. One person that I read about was in this same situation and he has just started back to work after going though 18 months of withdrawals and he was taking a lower dose than YOU have had me taking for 6 years, Dr. Hyler, if I am hooked on this drug, guess who is responsible? I trusted you, now I not only have a drinking problem, but I am also hooked on Xanax that YOU put me on. With my heart condition, do you really think that I will make it though withdraws that, cause seizures, strokes, even commas? What were you thinking? When you put me on a drug like that and keep me there for 6 years and now want to drop me as a patient? You even said in your report that, “you think that I need to stop taking them”, but you kept on writing the prescriptions, and act as if I am the bad guy. You are nothing but a legal drug dealer, and should be jailed.
