Would not recommend Dr. Maiden. He is arrogant and does not listen to anything other than his own opinion.

We began to visit Dr. Maiden in the beginning of April 2015. He saw us and was very keen to place our daughter on ADHD medication. We have had four visits to his office-- once a week. It seems as though each time we visit, he is on "auto-pilot," in that he rehearsed arguments for extended release medication that we said in the first visit we did not want, and did not seem to take into account specific issues related to our 9-year old daughter.

Starting last week, our daughter began to exhibit alarming behavior, which seemed connected to the start of a new trial medication. She said she had ruminating thoughts of hurting herself, depression, etc. When my wife met with him on Thursday last week and told him about this, his response was that this was something better to discuss with my daughter's therapist, and proceeded to recommend an increase dosage of the medication.

Over the weekend, the problems got worse. We ended up stopping the medication of our own accord on Sunday. We called his office, asking if he could call back about issues of possible side-effects related to the medication. A woman from the office called back Sunday night and left a message. Dr. Maiden never did. On Monday, he has not called back.

If you want someone to write prescriptions, he is your person. If you want a psychiatrist who tends to the specific needs and mental health nuances of your child, I highly recommend NOT going to him. His choice to up the dose of a medication that could be related to my daughter's desires to hurt herself and failure to contact us back within 24 hours of our desperate need for information is, at best, insufficient.
