I usually go to the Family Dental Group in Fishkill where the service is very good. When I arrived for my Jan. 16 - 11:30 appointment at the Brewster office, they had my appointment down for Jan. 23. I was at the Fishkill office when they called the Brewster office and made the appointment for Jan. 16. Someone in the Brewster entered the appointment on the wrong date. I even had the text confirmation confirming the appointment for Jan. 16 at 11:30 in the Brewster office. I also had a confirmation card that I was given by the Fishkill office. The reception asked me what my name was 4 times - very unprofessional. They were very nice but a bit incompetent. I had to wait for 45 minutes to be seen because they couldn't see me until they got my records from the Fishkill office. Dr. Gelbart was wonderful, but the guy who took the impression and made the temporary drilled the temporary down about 20 times - no exaggeration - and pushed the temporary crown into my gums after each drilling. My gums were sore for two days. I've been fitted for temporaries many times before, and they never have to drill and fit the temporary more than a couple of times. I do not plan to visit the Brewster office again.

I keep records of all my dental procedures, so I was annoyed to have to ask for an invoice each time I had an appaointment. appreciated them giving me an invoice right when I asked. The office is very unorganized and unprofessional. They either didn't read my information or didn't pay any attention to it. Several of my apppointments had to be rescheduled after I arrived, as the office staff had scheduled me for incorrect procedures. Even though they had my information right in front of them, I kept having to explain it to them and remind them why I was there. I also had to ask them to correct the spelling of my last name in their computer on six different occasions, as my insurance company kept denying the claim due to the misspelled name. The dentist was friendly enough but not overly nice. Doctor Gelbart actually insulted me to my face in front of a dental assistant when I complained about the incompetency of the office staff. Doctor Gelbart briefly explained my dental procedure to me, but I wish he had given me more information. I was never given any input or options pertaining to crowns, inplants, etc, nor was the cost of any option discussed with me. The office staff also failed to get pre-authorization from my insurance company for any of my multiple visits and procedures. My crown has fallen out dozens of times and I went to another dentist's office to simply have it cemented back in, as I no longer wanted to deal with Family Dental Group. That dentist refused to cement my crown back in as he claimed the work that was done was so poor that I would be setting myself up for infections and other problems. He did not want to be associated in any way in adding to the poor workmanship. Family Dental Group is simply awful and the doctors who own the group are the worst offenders.

Never Fails they have a reception staff of like 5 girls yet you still explain why your calling then get put on hold for 20 min to get another receptionist picking up to ask how can they help you.... REALLY now you need to start paying me for my time... they are friendly but they are to busy to really care or give attention deserved when there... I had to have a root canal done years ago and I complained of sensitivity afterwards Dr said impossible the nerve is gone he took new x-rays and so no issue and told me I was mistaken well I'm sorry I think I know if it hurts still if I drink hot or cold after a couple weeks and another appointment to complain he finally redid and found more nerve... What a SURPRISE... another time he capped part of a tooth which I later complained my bite was off and I was putting pressure on it blah blah blah he said that can't be they took a mold with much arguing he finally filed it down a little needless to say it finally broke last weekend after maybe 3 years now I am making an appointment elsewhere... I've had work that has lasted 20+ years elsewhere and never had anything redone but it seems I have to redo within 2-5 years what they've done.... I've gotten cavities under their fillings, I've had sensitivity after a cavity was filled so it wasn't all removed... the staff and Dr's were friendly and I gave them plenty of chances but I am tired of having to have work redone or make a follow up visit for something that wasn't done right on first visit or arguing about sensitivity and being told not possible... my time is money too because the time I waste on the phone or in the waiting room is time I'm not getting paid at work...

They answered most of my questions but I could have used more information. Their staff was friendly enough. Have not been happy with this group for awhile I gave them a second chance when I met Dr. Deckler by accident. He left the practice for personal reasons and moved out of the area. I last saw him in March he was gone by May I had no clue until I showed up for my cleaning. The initial Dr. I had there was rough in inserting my permanent crown. Another visit there I asked for a lead shield for my 18 yr old daughter during an xray and they said she didn't need it. I'm an xray tech if someone asks you for a shield you give them one . The head Dr. backed up his staff. That was the last time she went there. Now I need an implant myself. Only 1 dentist in the group does them efficiently? Ridiculous!
I am releasing my records from them and moving on! By Bye family dental!
