Cannot recommend Dr. Johnston enough. Have seen him over a number of years, and he was very helpful in getting me through a difficult period of my life and into a much better one. He is professional, knowledgeable and empathetic. Great!

Bruce Johnston, MD, psychiatrist, who spends 50 minutes per session exploring feelings and emotional history is rare in these days of managed medicine and a pill for every mental and emotional symptom. He believes in a talking approach to solving emotional pain and prescribes drugs only as a last resort. When drugs are prescribed he monitors how the drugs are affecting how the client feels since he knows that not all medications make an improvement in quality of life. Dr. Bruce Johnston helped me to transform my life. I made changes that I never thought were possible. He has amazing empathy and insight. He knows how to make it easier for the patient to discuss difficult subjects and he's totally non-judgmental. He is also incredibly patient, knowing that a patient has to progress at their own speed. Dr. Johnston determined my previous diagnosis of bipolar was incorrect and he helped me get off the drugs I was on, and has worked with me for the last year to become more able to voice my feelings and opinions, and to leave a painful marriage of 30 years duration. He's been extremely supportive during the whole process and I can't recommend him enough. Dr. Johnston is extremely smart and knows more about the human psyche, human emotions, psychological conditions, and LIFE than anyone I have ever met.
